Hi all, as some of you will know i have a GPZ400 and have had no end of trouble trying to get it running right. A so called Bike Mechanic told me last week the reason its not running right is because its loosing compression in every cylinder and i need all my valves re seating. The bike has only done 15000 miles so i find this very hard to believe and would like a second opinion please. The bike will run and ride (badly) for about 20 minutes before it cuts out and wont start again until i leave it for half an hour then it will start back up and run again but it coughs and farts and doesn't get going properly. Anyone got any more ideas?? Carbs have all been done and set up and balanced ect ect.

Who done the work on the carbs?

I still think fueling is the problem. You might have a split carb rubber, and that the warm engine softens the rubber and makes the split big enough to draw in air, where as when its cold it wont do this!?

Thumbs Up

I did the carb work and i'm sure the rubbers were ok but i will double check. Would that be the reason it sounds like its only running on 3 cylinders then?

If there is a big enough hole in the rubbers, it could be.
