I'm having difficulty finding a job in Manchester , I'm heavily qualified and experienced but I have a <0.3% hit rate , which incidentally was much worse than when I just graduated which was about 5% at the time.

London seems to have an absolute ton of jobs, move to London good idea bad idea? , staying put in this job is NOT an option. There is NO progression partners all hate my guts , and anything I say is used against me.

I'm thinking deal with the devil here sell my soul in London for a bit then leave working elsewhere, probably sell the CBR to toby or something and keep the NTV in London,

Any thoughts?

Consideirng I have no ties here anyway and the Northern group seem to have fallen apart anyway?.

Thanks.

Do it.
Just don't bring a northern accent with you, or you shall be shunned.

Depends on what job you do, but your right that no ones smiles!

You don't have to work inside London, e.g. for me there's a lot of IT based employment around the M25 periphery. I moved down here for the work, I found it easier to get a job than in the North West but rent cost is quite eye-watering compared to the North.

Boo. You lot of naysayers!

London is great.
Thumbs Up

I admit ... I have this love/hate thing with it.
But I wouldnt have lived here over 20 years if it was always rubbish.

You get a great sense of being in a very historical city, and you can also either go mad from/totally engulf yourself in ... the craziness of a modern city lifestyle if you choose to live life to the fullest.

And there are still places of beauty and (relative) solitude or peacefulness that you can get away from things if the whole mad-city-buzz gets too much.

Or you can fuck off back to Manchester, cos we'll all be telling you that you should, when we get fed up of listening to you moan about London in your whiny provincial accent Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

I smiled at the woman serving me in Pret a Manger this afternoon, and she said to me "What's happened?"

... as if it was unusual for people to smile, or as if something was wrong Rolling Eyes

I shoulda said "Oh, nothing, love, I'm just a total basket case - I must be if I choose to live/work in London"

If you don't fancy London, have you looked at Birmingham? Quite a few opportunities there as well.

Love the way people try to slap London down when they've spent virtually no time here.

London's easy to live in, easy to get a job in and if the worst comes to the worst you can always become a courier or leave.

I've lived and worked here all my life and know the parts others never see, seen the highs and seen the lows. Not everyone can handle the sheer scale of the place and the way you can get a pint at 3am most nights, it truly is a city that never sleeps if you know where to look.

Rents in central start from about £75 a week in central for a flat/house share and go up from there to however much you want to pay.

I think you need to have a word with Paivi as you work in the same fields.

London really appeals to me, my auntie and cousin both live there and I love it there, though saying that I only have experience of Brixton, Harlesden and Camden, so that might not be completely reflective of London life, I remember loving the hussle and bussle, but the heat during the summer is quite unbearable, especially on the tube, but when I think of London, I think of it as completely different part of Britain, nothing about London sums up the United Kingdom as a whole, it is the only city that is truly metropolitan within the UK, I think that is what makes it special.

I know it is a fantastic place to visit, but not sure what it would be like to live and work there.

We shall be back one day, just like the coal mining industry Wink Laughing (To be taken with a pinch of salt)

With regards to the "Slapping London down" comment. Lets try and put it into a different perspective here...London, the capital city of England, where around 75% of the country's wealth is. A totally unfair advantage for the rest of us. Now say for example you have a bright spark who is born and breed in London, goes to Uni to become an accountant , he doesn't need to leave London because all the jobs are there on a silver plate, hence the finicial sector of London (Canada Square, etc) People in London, generally have no need to leave London because they're is practically every job one could wish for , minus a few , like farming jobs , etc.

Now someone from Manchester who has a similar qualifications struggles to find work , so heads for the capital. Gets a job , may spend a few months living there , a few years maybe. But at least they have spent some, albeit a small amount of time there, a small amount of time there is better than none. These people who are born & bred outside of London who can compare there home county to London , where as Londoners who haven't surly don't have the same ability to be able to do this , because all there used to is London. Surly those people who have lived in the North / South can compare and can "Slam" a specific area since theyve lived there for a while. This is when you get those rather hilarious stereotypes such as , people from County x,y,z are all farmers , who go around saying ooh arr , or they are all coal miners with flat caps and speak funny etc Laughing

London has a population of 8.9 million in an area of 609 square miles.
That's a density of 12 331/sq mi.

And think how many of them are southerners Shocked
