Oppinions please! on CBR 600 F

Ill apologise now, but i thought i was decided on my next bike, paid deposit also.

But, saw a fair few older CBR 600 F's up Rivington today and have taking a liking to them.

Just wondered what people thoughts are.


Quite fancy this one, yes the paint scheme is different but i like it.

I have a 99 cbr600fx, and its the mutts nuts lol. its very comfy, nice big seat for you and pillion. nice and powerfull, no problems with getting part anything off the lights, and will sit nice and comfy at over well illegal speeds on the motorway.

only problems ive had are reg/rec was fried, and thats it!

brill bike, easy to get spare parts. easy to ride, and entertaining enough to leave a smile on your face when you park her up.

i love mine to bits and wouuldnt swap it for anyting in the world.

I'm looking into CBR 600's as well because a work colleague is selling his. He says they're a top bike and you'll love it.

It's a 1992 J plate 2 owners, FSH, 23k for £1200. After looking at that Autotrader link it's a bargain.

Very tempted to buy it. Can I share someone's garage as I have nowhere to put it

Lovely looking bikes

If you can afford it go for the CBR600FX 1999 as it was the first of the ally framed models, and bloody gorgeous in black and yellow.

FI was introduced in 2001 I think and also the F sport released in 2002 (?!) which is now known as the CBR600RR?

Honda's for the win, I'm getting a VFR as an alternative to teh CBR as I dont think I can afford the insurance on the CBR.

I'll probably end up with the FM model, think their the 1992 -1996, got a budget of £2500 but i really would love a 1999 onwards especially the F Sport their the Sex.

Oh and good choice with the VFR, gorgeous bikes, just dont get the Vtec one.

They look nice them, theres one a performance motorcycles salvage in Darwen, which im looking at friday, as my mate wants to go look at CBR/VFR 400's

Personally mate if that FY (Y, not X) in York checks out I would tear his hand off for £2400 max.

That is high mileage mate, just check for cam chain rattle as I think the CCT is still a bit dodge on the CBR's although I don't think a CCT is a big job to replace.

Entirely up to you mate but I would pay more for a lower mileage

I'd be a bit cautious about buying a complete bike from a company called 'Motorcycle Salvage', mind... Call me a cynic but I'd guess the bikes are bought for peanuts as non-runners and wrecks, tarted up a bit and punted out...

To be fair ive never had a problem hustling /any/ bikes on the '96 FT

Dont be so quick to dismiss the slightly older ones, they're cheap as chips (sadly, i bought my 96 2 years ago for 2.2k from colin collins... now it'll barely be worth 1.3k i reckon), spares are cheap, and they are stable as a rock.

Although i am looking for an upgrade in a year or so.

My way of thinking, is buy something cheap, yet mechanically sound, and then when i have a bit more money in the furture and after a couple of years riding the 600 get something newer and maybe larger.
