Okay, im sick of looking now.
I have been looking for a while to replace my PC and dont know where to look. Dell seem to have the right idea, were you can add bits and pieces as you want untill you think, oh shit thats a bit too expensive and have to take some stuff back off.
I got an eMachines thingy from dixons a while back and im thinking its abit out of date.
Intel Celeron 1.3 GHz
256Mb Ram (2 x 128 - no space to add more)
some shity built in intel grafix card but i added a "Sparkle" nvidia GeForce MX440 64Mb card.
DVD
CD-RW
I also have a laptop that id like to get rid of.
AMD Duron 900MHz
128MB Ram
DVD/CD
Any ideas? Should i attempt to upgrade (not much space for extras ie memory) Should I buy a new one. I dont need most of the shite that retailers sell with there PCs. I have keyboards, mice, tonnes of software etc so im just after the basic PC and a bigger monitor would be good.
NB
This is a request for info at the moment not exchange and mart

Sounds like you want a barebones system of some sort. Check out places like https://www.overclockers.co.uk for components.
You'll probably need at least:
Case
Power supply
Mobo
CPU
RAM
Graphics card
And probably a nice 240GB HD. ____________________ TiN

Try CCL Computers: https://www.cclcomputers.com
(Online Store>>Configurable Systems)
You could just get a new motherboard, CPU and RAM. No point buying an entire new system if you don't need to. |

Is it just me or is trying to work out what goes with what and what will fit were just so friggin' confusing!
Id be happy sticking with my nVidia GeForce MX440 but i'm not sure how much longer thats going to be good enough. 64Mb is ok for now but what kind of spec are games like HL2 going to need.
ideally id like
Fast as phuk processor
Much Ram as poss (got 2x 256Mb at the moment)
bigger monitor
i got no room in my current MB for more memory but i guess i could buy 2x 512's
not sure what processor would fit in this current MB
Monitor not a huge problem as far as compatability is concerned ____________________ Dreams will get you nowhere, a good kick up the arse will take you a long way.

Just want faster PC.
So pissed off waiting for it to do things all the time.
Takes its time switching programs, Anti Virus scanning, loading Ripped movies, loading games etc. ____________________ Dreams will get you nowhere, a good kick up the arse will take you a long way.

I just bought a stock system and threw a new disk and a nice 3D card in there. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

eBay is definitely the way forward. I bought a pc for £430 from eBay recently. I was going to buy the parts and build it myself. In total the parts would have cost me close to £600. ____________________ Past >>>> Honda NSR 125 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K1 >>>> Suzuki GSXR 600 K4 >>>>Kawasaki Z1000 DAF >>>>Suzuki RMZ 250 >>>> Current >>>> KTM Superduke R 1290 >>>> |
