I'm just about to buy a kawasaki er-5, restricted to 33bhp. Any ideas on its expected performance? Top speed, acceleration? Cheers

I think their normal top speed is 110-120? Not sure, i'm looking at getting one next year when im 17.

Probably around 100 i'd guess but that's just a guess.

My bandit did 95-100 when restricted, down hill, absolutely raping it.

To say ER-5's are only 500cc, and have ~50bhp according to some online sources (that was a '99 model quote), they're a bit less than a 600 Bandit.

Maybe it shows it on the speedo but I bet you it doesn't.

My restrictor certificate says my top speed is 93 officially, and it's basically the same engine as an ER-5. I've had 100 indicated on the speedo. Acceleration is fine in lower gears but it starts to slow down quite a lot once you hit 80-ish.

Do it.

I've had a restricted ER5 and it was absolutely fine, the ER5 takes the restriction brilliantly, much better than say my Z which didn't like the restriction.

My restrictors are now out of the ER (legally) and to be honest I don't notice too much difference.

Its definitely the bike to get restricted.

As for speed, with the restrictors in it would accelerate up to about 92mph, but then on it would go faster, but it would take time..................................... Lots of time.

I think it influences how quick it gets up to a top speed, so surely carrying weight plus the torque that bigger bikes have will put them slightly above similar engine sized bikes with less stock bhp and torque.

I would of thought a twin or a single would handle the restrictors a lot better.

The 4 cylinder bikes make their torque fairly high in the revs don't they? Where as the twins (whether they be parallel or V) and the singles make their torque much lower down.

I'm told the singles are the best for restrictors (less weight to carry around for starters)
