Wha? I don't get it. It seems like some very bored person dreaming about stripping bikes down and making them worse.

where did you get the pics? LOL.

Check that out. They are claiming that "feet forward" style bikes are safer, more aerodynamic, more maneuverable... It's all a load of crap but at the same time there might just be a market out there for this kind of thing...

Safer. Probably if designed that way from the start ( https://www.peraves.ch/index_english.html ). More aerodynamic? Well, difficult to get much worse than current bike (bikes aerodynamics are atrocious). More manueverable? Doubtful on that, and poor steering lock is a common problem for alternative front suspension designs.

All the best

I am surprised by the aerodynamics thing. I always assumed bikes have good aerodynamics - it's accompanied by an image of a bike in a wind tunnel with all the vectors flowing off his crouched body.

You learn something new every day...

Hi

Front might be nice and aerodynamic, but that has minimal effect. Most of the drag comes from behind, with the wake the vehicle causes. And looking at the back of a bike / rider you will see there is no useful attempt to sort that issue out.

The coefficient of drag of a 1990 Honda RS125 GP bike is 0.64, compared to 0.57 for a Hummer H2, and 0.3 for a 1982 Audi 100 (although the bike bike substantially better when area is included). Hayabusa is meant to be the most aerodynamic bike and they only manage 0.56.

All the best

All of it does, air resistance acts infront. I really should have learned to not be pedantic where Keith is concerned Laughing

The only effective way to make bikes aerodynamic would be to enclose the entire machine. However, this is impractical - being in a flimsy capsule during a high-speed off isn't exactly ideal.

I did toy with putting something like "hence the reason it is called drag", but decided not to.

Ho hum.

All the best
