 |
|
I'll be honest I know hardly anything about bikes other than how to make them go, and can only do it properly on my bike .
My problem is that my throttle slid off a bit, only about half an inch.
This has never happened before and it scared the heck out of me.
Is this normal?
I could actually take it off and put it back on
Is my bike rideable now?
I haven't tried and I'm doing the ostrich thing of burying my head in the sand.
I know with the left hand grip you can change it but I have no clue about the throttle or what you have to do with it.
If anyone can help thanks.
This happened about half an hour ago by the way. |

Only ever had this problem on the old pushrod! It was due to water getting in under the grip. Best thing is to try to twist is of, if it wont twist then try to lift an edge with a small screwdriver and allow some air to get under it. When you have got it off then dry the bar and use some white spirit to clean the bar end and dry it. Make sure the inside of the grip is dry, use some spirit on the grip and allow to dry then twist the grip back on. ____________________ Current - Yamaha R1 - Yamaha XJ600N - Kawasaki GPZ 500S (project? So it's not broken then?
Also if you can take the grip on and off can you change them too? (throttle).
Have been thinking about getting pink grips .
I didn't know it was possible though, well for me to do anyway. |

I use hair spray. Lubricates till it dries, then acts as a light glue. Works fine for me ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

No it won't work , just drain a bit of petrol and take the grip off , dry the bar , put petrol on the inside of the grip , ram it on to the bar , leave to dry for 2 mins , and away you go.
Thinners is better if you have it but petrol will do for now. |

Best bet is to turn the petrol tap off , take the rubber hose off , turn petrol tap on and then there will be a stream of petrol every were , stick the grip under it , turn petrol off when the grip is wet , slide the grip on to the bars , put fuel pipe back on , turn petrol tap to on.
Simple. |

Just another note :
Make sure you have got enough petrol before trying this , the last thing you want to do is run out , if you do it correctly it will only use a camera film case full.
( Thats not much btw ) |

I got the pink grips today .
Did a thread with pics of them in the general bike pics.
My boyfriend keeps calling me barbie now though .
Good thing is if my bike ever gets pinched it's easily recognisable!
If anyone wants to pinch it with those grips anyway . |

Soon as I read PINK GRIPS further up this thread I about turned and marched off in the opposite direction.
There are some dodgey blokes on here who KNOW about pink grips?
Grip Glue works best, but if you are ever stuck (Pardon the Pun) A wee slabberin' of nail polish will do. Colour co-ordinated of course..... ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
