im going to buy my first bike soon either a mito or an nsr, could anyone tell me what should i be looking 4 when im bying the bike

Hi

Crash damage. They are both learner bikes. Many learners drop their bikes.

Service history. Check when the piston and / or rings were last changed.

Check the state of the tyres. A pair of tyres will cost you around £150 for a Mito.

Check the chain and sprockets.

Check the brake pads.

Check the fork seals (look for signs of oil on the forks).

Check the rear suspension. Look for signs of oil leaks from the shock. Check that it moves smoothly and doesn't creak. Get someone to lift the back end of the bike so that the back wheel is off the ground (but don't lift it by holding onto the suspension) and then feel for any vertical play in the swinging arm (worn suspension bushes).

Check the steering head bearings. Lift the front of the bike up by the frame and check the handlebars turn smoothly and lightly. Check there is no play in the steering head bearings.

Check all the lights work.

Listen for any rattles (some are usual, depends on the bike and the rattle!).
