hi... i have just bought a rieju rs1 year 2000 off eBay for £150... the bike its self is pritty fu**ed tbh... gone into back of a car... have been told engine is fine...

Question
the bike will not start... there is nothing... replaced battery as other 1 was no good, and still nothing... stripped bike down completely, and starter motor is disconnected. there is no kick start and it wont bump.. at the back where the fuse box is there is a broken wire hanging out of it.. it is same colour as starter motor cable but too thin.. if some one could post a pic of whats men't to happen it would be very helpful....

hope that makes sense^^ lol

n e help appreciated

will try and post a pic another time... no website is uploading them..

upload to photobucket.
i can only assume that the cable that has been pulled out is the wire for the starter solenoid.
by the sound of what you have said about the starter motor being disconnected, i would assume its been chucked in 50cc class racing and possibly is running a total loss system, ?(alternator disconnected)?
with out actually seeing the bike myself this is all just pie in the sky stuff,
best bet is contact your dealer and see if you can get a wiring diagram and a manual from them.
i have a diagram for a rs50 which i think is very similar to the reijus wiring if you want that.

where are you based??
someone with a bit of knowledge might be able to pay you a visit Mr. Green

for some reason none of my pics are uploading to any website atm (not even photo bucket Sad ) alternator is still connected, there is only 1 wire from the startor motor, and there is no where it can be connected, so i can only assume it is this one. i can email you pics if this helps. based in Cornwall UK... kinda need to try and do it myself, don't have money or transportation to get it to a dealer.

RS1 wiring diagrams would be very helpful, thanks..

Sam

there is normally only one wire to the starter motor. the feed from the starter relay(solenoid) the starter motor is earthed to the bike so doesnt need a seperate earth wire

i dont have any rs1 diagrams as the reijus are near impossible to find info for but i do have
https://images6.theimagehosting.com/albums/24591/mx50.th.GIFrs50

which should be similar

hey mate heres the pics
https://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PHTO0036Small.jpg
https://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PHTO0035Small.jpg
https://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PHTO0034Small.jpg
https://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/PHTO0033Small.jpg

the wires thats connected to the fuse, follow that back and see where it goes,
i can't tell anything from those pics really.
but that could be the main fuse that goes from the battery up to the ignition switch.via a few joins in the cable for the turn signal relay and the dash rev counter.
it makes it a bit tricky to follow wire with out a multimeter, so i sugesst the first thing you do, if your not getting any one to help you is buy one and talk to a reiju dealer about getting a manual and wiring diagram for the bike.
for now go with the gpr50 diagram as it'll be the closest to your bike

as you can see the only red wire is from the battery to the regulator
(and a seperate wire to the starter motor)
if the wire to the regulator isnt connected, you wont get power to any where on the bike. so thats your first goal Very Happy
good luck Thumbs Up

brilliant... that has really helped alot... will try and get a multimeter later on to day to test power... from looking at diagrams looks like a fair bit of wire has been pulled from my bike, can i just get any wire to make up the broken stuff?

thanks alot for your help..

kind of, i would get a selection of cable sizes to do it, eg .5mm2 and .75mm2
get a soldiering iron, some solder, and some heat shrink, (or insulation tape)
dont use strip connectors as they will be another weak point, in the system and easily get corroided with all the shit that comes up from the road.

bear in mind that diagram might not be exactly the same as yours as its from a rs2, but for the life of me i couldnt find a rs1 diagram./
it should be fairly close Thumbs Up

the first thing to check is continuity (a complete peice of wire for the electricity to pass through)

1. the red wire between the battery and the regulator
and the battery and the ignition switch
2. battery and starter relay (solenoid)
3. strater relay and starter motor
4. all 3 wires from the magneto/alternator to the coil
5. the red/white wire from the coil to the ignition switch
6. the green wire between the ignition and the starter switch
7. the green and white wire from the starter switch to the starter relay.
8 and the black wire on the starter relay to earth

if you get continuity between all those points and none of the switches or relays them selves are broken.

then the bike will turn over and possibly start if all the engine components are fine Very Happy

lol fun times aye Very Happy Thumbs Up

Mr. Green
lol, i knew it wasnt going to be that easy.
follow the instructions up above,
set your meter ohms and test the resistance to see if you have continuity between all the points described.
and right down the readings.

its a shame your too far away from me, i'd help ya sort it if you were closer Very Happy

got half way there checking the wires.. but going to be staying else where for a few days so wont be able to do anything for a bit...

so far

1. the red wire between the battery and the regulator
and the battery and the ignition switch is 0

2. battery and starter relay (solenoid) is 0

3. strater relay and starter motor is 0 .. but works?!?!

and thats as far as ive got so far..

for the magneto to coil do i have to take off engine casing as i cannot get to end of wires? of am i looking in totally the wrong place??

im pritty crap with bikes and hopeless with electrics so any help would be appreciated.

cheers sam

0 ohms is no resistance thats what your after,
but i doubt your meter is that accurate, touch the leads together,
that will give you the error of the meter, that should be the result that you are trying to find when you are testing.
have you got the meter set to ohms and not volts??

yep go for it, even if yours is working its worth having a spare.
might also be worth asking him if he also has the complete wiring loom, it might save you quite a bit of heart break in the long run Very Happy
