after you kick the gear thingy down to a lower gear, open the throttle a bit, then close it before releasing the clutch/going down to the next gear. lets the engine speed get closer to the speed of the wheel or some other such balls.

alternatively, let the revs die out in each gear, so change down at say 3,000rpm, and let the clutch out smoothly, personal choice though.

Or coast a bit and wait Til you stop, then change all at once.

I usually do a taj of engine braking but too much isn't good for a 2stroke..

oops... I engine brake all the time on my 2t. I try not to but most of the time i go to around 4,000 revs and drop down.

Otherwise i just coast and pull the clutch in and kick all the way down to first.

you could be letting the clutch out to quickly try a more smooth release.

any riding of a 2t without any throttle can cause problems because the 2stroke oil isn't getting around the system, can seize the bike up. So i've been told anyway.

It only causes problems if you do it for a long time, ie going down a massive hill and not using the throttle at all on the way down. If your in that situation blip the throttle a bit.

Also if say you are engine braking at 10,000 revs, your bike will only be getting fuel for about 1500 revs (average idle speed), so obviously it won't be getting enough oil.

I do engine braking and my bike isn't suffering from it, I always rev when changing down gears, so the bike gets a bit of fuel/oil from my revving Smile.

I always blip my throttle between changing each gear and releasing the clutch. It results in a very smooth movement on the deceleration.

I'd say definately a combination between you letting the clutch out too fast and/or changing down too many gears.

Feather the clutch when you downshift, clutch in, downshift let it out to the biting point. That way you can feel if the bike is going to jolt forwards and you can always pull it in before it does, try again and again till itll come out smoothly as every time you let it out to the biting point itll engine brake partly anyway.
