Sad Monday morning, bottom of Park St in Bristol. Won't go into much detail just now due to only having lrft arm. Basically a BMW turned across me, totally shattered my right elbow. 12 pins, a few plates and 6 hours of surgery later the real fun begins. Just got discharged this morning, going to lose most the movement in my right arm. Still, at least I'm alive and I'll have a whopping big compensation payout to buy a car with. Sad Thumbs Up

Feck Rookster, sounds serious, do you mean you won't be able to use your right arm again?! That bloody sucks.

Apparently I'll have a max. of 40 degrees of movement. Not riding is my choice though, after seeing what it put my family and my girlriend through, I decided enough was enough.

Thanks for the kind words all. Thumbs Up

Sh!t dude, that sucks the large one.

Bear in mind, doctors are like solicitors and always give the gloomiest prognosis (so they look good when things turn out better). Get that elbow moving as soon as you can and work it, you'll most likely be pleasantly suprised (talking from the experience of a knee myself). Thumbs Up

Very unlucky Sad . If you got the movement back in your arm (so if it turned out to be not as bad as the doctors say) would you consider getting another bike? Seems a shame to give up something you love so much because of some cupid stunt in a BMW Evil or Very Mad .

Good Bering jacket, good gloves. According to a witness I did 3 midair flips before I hit the ground, so I was never going to walk away. The amazing thing is I didn't have a scratch on me, literally, aside from my elbow, which was so bad I went into shock and was given morphine on the road (which is horrible stuff incidentally, been on it the last 4 days).

The bike is a definite write off, though all I saw was a massive cloud of steam when I hit the ground.

Thanks again for the sympathy guys, it is appreciated. Karma

I know, but it's not because of the elbow. When I woke up after the op and my girlfriend was sitting next to my bed, she saw I was awake and instantly burst into tears. Which is when I decided to give up riding.
