First of all as you are 16, you won't be able to ride a 125 until you are 17 and completed a CBT if you haven't already. If you chose to get a "Crosser" styled bike, You can ride them on the road fine as long as its road Legal, examples (Yamaha DT 125 (2 stroke) or a Honda XR 125 (4 stroke).

They are fine for around town, longish journeys and are perfectly capable off road or green laning.

Hope that helps

Well your not aloud to ride a 125 on the road at 16 at all. Only 50cc and it has to be restricted to 30mph (Although most people derestrict them).

But you are allowed to race 125's on a track. It's a really expensive hobby if your looking to go into it you need to get sponsors ASAP really....unless your rich.

Perry, the poster was interested in 50cc Wink Thumbs Up

Sam, you could get a 50cc crosser, road legal but can't go on a normal track(like cadwell etc) unless you have a full license and leathers. If you mean a dirt track or private, then I guess it's up to the land owners, it's illegal to go random field trailing Smile If you go for an off-road bike, it'd need indicators, lights, brake light and L plates, then it's set.

Oh, and a horn Laughing

I dont think it's a good idea to have a bike your going to use for your racing bike, for a road bike aswell.

This is because you will need at least a speedo, number plate, L plates, a brake light and front and rear lights depending on wether you will want to get a daytime MOT or a full one. On top of that you might want indicators and mirrors (very useful on roads although not needed).

This is only if your going into propper motor cross racing, if your like me and just fancy a ride about on a field or private track aswell as using your bike on the road then go for it.

But yeah, follow the other posts about the CBT and the age thing.

Just my suggestion.

Scott.
