just got my provisional in the post and they've misspelled my name. what the hell kind of a name is kigran? its a bit mad considering they had my passport, shouldnt that be the sort of thing that shoud be checked?

so what hould i do now? do i have to send it off to have it changed, or doesnt it matter too much since it's only the 3rd letter of my first name?

everything else is correct btw

Dude, it's the DVLA.

They didn't send my licence back for 6 weeks because another 'Ben Glover' sent his in at the same time. His was going to the special needs department and they got them mixed up.

Lady was very apologetic on the phone, i just said that it was lucky they weren't a large governmental department and put the phone down.

How long should it take? I need to send mine off to change my address.

Oh, and sorry for slightly hijacking the thread.

I'm not sure of all the legal ramifications; but I'd definitely send yours back. If your name's wrong, it isn't you.

will it really make much difference? it has my digital passport number on the paper counterpart anywho, and its only my first name so my initials are correct etc.

ill ring up in a bit anyway, and much shouting will occur.

sounds like one of their computer monkeys was watching Highlander the night before, MUPPETS

personally id just do the cbt its only a bit of paper that lasts 2 years then change it after that. the change will be on record so it cannot invalidate the cbt certificate just say you did not notice until the cbt guy mentioned it.

I would have thought, if the CBT guy has half a wit about him, then he'll realise it's a DVLA fuck up, and let you carry on.

Not as bad as my friend, who had his car test, did the bike test, and the license came back with just the bike test. Phoned DVLA, and they had no record of him ever passing his car test.

Had to retake his car test in the end. Laughing Rolling Eyes

And thats why you photocopy your license before you send it to these monkeys.

Surely he still had his pass certificate?

No, all the evidence had been destroyed along with the DVLA's records.

To be fair to him though, if you asked where my car test certificate was (only passed about two years ago) I wouldn't be able to tell you.

i phoned up and i just got a voice recording... no use to me, there wasnt an option for ' if the dvla fucked up and printed a ridiculous name on your license, press 1'
so its either get it changed and wait a month to do the cbt, or ring up the cbt guys and ask if theyll let me do it with the wrong name, then change it after.

added a bit of a poll on there, feel free to vote Very Happy

press random numbers and you get to advisors. I tried this another day when calling a big company and all options led to recorded messages. Presses 432856#4295#74*28075 and soon got a person to talk to. Was great!!

Or if there is no option zero offered, then just press '0'. Works on most of the automated systems I use for banking, utilities etc.

Even better than that, don't press anything, the system will assume you have a pulse phone rather than touch tone and just get you to a switch board.

This does backfire though, in the case of Nationwide, when it asks you to 'say' the department. It's not very good.
