I'd get a length of M8 threaded bar (screwfix do it, or your local hardware shop), cut it to the desired length, then maybe fill in the thread in the middle with chemical metal or similar?

Yea, i was thinking this G. Some people on a DIY site said i might be better off using M8 x 12mm allen key bolts are this set up means its not as tidy IMO.

Im going to order some now and see how they fit. getting the other parts delivered early next week so should be on by end on next week, if all goes to plan.

Its a stud, 8mm X 30mm and the 'Pup should have them. I shall ask him over the weekend as he doesn't seem to be answering PM's these days.

Believe he sent one to Toby R the other week just to upset him Razz

Sorry Tobes.... Wink

One thing that may be worth a try is your local quick fit type place, it looks like a fairly typical exhaust stud. May be worth an ask

Good luck

Can't you get one from your bike manufacturer (if it is a bolt that was from the standard can) or from the exhaust manufacturer if it is a bolt that came with the can.

I've always been able to get strange nuts, bolts and washers for my car from my local VW dealer. I've never needed part numbers (lets face it, where are they going to put it on a nut or bolt). I just tell them where it comes from and point it out from the exploded diagram on the computer screen.

Did you even bother reading the first post Andy made? Laughing

He ordered one from Devil and it still hasn't turned up, 3 weeks later.

Andy, i'm only in Dubai for a few days, but i could TRY and get one made up for you and bring it over to Seaford when i come over.

Ah, I didn't realise Devil was an exhaust manufacturer. Thought it was maybe a parts supplier, or he had contacts with Satan. Bit new to this biking lark. Embarassed

Thats what i thought at first but then look at the screw again and both going in same direction as each other.

Yea, you can give me a screw when you come over.......me. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Seriously though, that would be cool if you could. Should be sorted by then but still good back up option.

Apprently its on its way in the post but im not convinced. I rang a random Devil destributer and he was quite surprised that i was given these fixings.

He took a GSXR can (4 bolt on) and they were standard allen key bolts. I think these will look more tidy so ive ordered some to see if they are ok. If not will look for M8 30mm stud Thumbs Up

This is what i got (hoping where they slightly get wider wont mess up the fitting

I'm confused as to how a socket-cap with 10mm thread is going to replace a 30mm stud? Having said that these are standard parts and there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to use a socket-cap instead of a stud & nut if there's room to fit it.

As mentioned it looks like a fairly ordinary brass exhaust stud.

It's designed to be used with a nut so that if either end of the thread seizes there is still a good chance one end will undo so you can remove the exhuast. If all else fails the soft brass can also be melted with an oxy torch if need be.

Pop down to an exhust fitters who should be able to sell you one, it shouldn't cost more than 5-10p if they can be bothered to charge you. If it's too long then just slice one end off with a hacksaw.

Or pop to B&Q, buy a length of 8mm stud, cut to length. Likely to be about 50p.

Go to a fixings and fastenings shop, they should be able to sort you out with a suitable bolt. Thumbs Up
