Wheelies

Hi guys,

Just after a bit of technical tuition, not listed in the driving manual, how to pull a wheelie. I have a restricted Kawasaki ER-5, is this powerful. I'm told you just put it in second, pull the clutch in, rev it and let it out. Is that right? How easy is it to correct, I'm worried I'll come off with some expensive repairs lol. Cheers, Dave

dont do, your bike is no designed for that and you could end up dead, or worse being drip fed for the rest of your life because when you came of the back you broke your neck that severed all the nerves running down your spine completely leaving you helpless. You will even need some one to change your granny nappy.

More to the point your bike dosn't deserve it. Landings from Multiple wheelies can fuck up your headstock, too much air time can deprive the bike of oil and they don't handle as well on one wheel as they do on two.

If you really want to get yourself some decent gear and a cheap field bike you can afford to wreck.

I really would advise against it, as above its really not worth the risk, watched a guy try and pull a wheelie next to me at a set of traffic lights and fall straight off the back... not pretty.

And if you cock up like me when I tried doing a wheelie without proper practice, just a make it up as you go along plan, all you can smell for ages after is burning clutch

Usually said to cruise along about 25-30mph (I find a standing start , then doing the following as I reach that speed better), and in one quick motion, clutch in, revs up, dump the clutch, and keep turning that throttle.

Always keep your foot over the rear brake. Just don't stamp on it, cus the front will come down too hard.

You can fit a larger sprocket on the back, install a "freestyle ingenuity" cage, straight renthal bars, adjust the freeplay on your clutch and throttle and you're set. 1st gear, rev to 9000 rpm and dump the clutch! The front should shoot off, and if you don't have your rear brake covered, you WILL land on your arse. Prolonging the wheelie distance can be done by finely balancing your weight and perfect throttle control. Shift into 2nd sans clutch and you can go for as long as you want.

On mine i wound on to 12000rpm then dumped the clutch it came up great and shot off .

my arse hurts like hell now and i haven't seen the bike since ?
