Well it seems I've aquired one pending a few things.

Opinions? Observations?

I've ridden it, did a session at Llandow on it, the bike's good.

I have a query with headlights, when on full beam should they both be on full beam or just one? At the moment it's only the right bulb.

And on dipped beam the right one is slightly brighter, although that could just be the difference in bulbs.

I love the arse on it, I think I'm in love.

I WANT ONE TOO!
Most modern bikes have one side as main light and other is the dipped, so yeah, its either one or the other. My Mito was like that.
Ive heard of a lad being pulled and fined for this over on 125sb, but the old bill where in the wrong.

Ok, that's fine, should still pass the MOT.

It's a '99 model, in blue and white on a 51 plate which is nice.

My test-ride of it was a session at Llandow.

I`ve got one and absolutely love it. Laughing Laughing
Still not sure about the `hump` tho. I`ve put the rear seat back on but still can`t make my mind up about it.
Don`t know about the headlights Gaz. The bike is at a friends garage at the moment, but will have a look over the weekend if it stops raining long enouh for me to get it out!!!

Not a fan of SRADS, they just look too big & fat whereas you get the sleeker looking sports bikes. Saying that tho, i really do the like yellow/black ones, the paint & graphics suit it better.

I had one, sold it to Instigator, hell of a bike! miss it to bits.

i've got some spares if you need them, a white pillion seat pod, spare Harris exhaust, abba stand with Srad fitting kit etc.

I don't think the law about one light being dipped and one full beam came in until like 2002 or something.

I had a 99 SRAD600 and thoroughly loved it - its only real let down was that the brakes were so weedy. Braided hoses helped, but they were never much to write home about and were the cause of many a brown-trousered moment.
I fitted a one tooth smaller front sprocket and that really improved the character of the bike.
Mine also had two working headlamps, but i think that was done by a previous owner rather than a standard feature.
Undoubtedly one of the SRAD's most useful points is the veritable alladins cave of stuff you can cram away under the hump - i believe at one point i had a small tribe of hottentots living under there.
I'm sure Mister McGee will be along shortly to advise you about your duty to become a photo-whore now that you own a gixer. Allow me to get in first....

I had a fiddle with the headlights and both high beams should come on. As they do now. It passed it's MOT yesterday which was nice.

|||N30||| lemme know what kinda prices you're thinking, especially re: abba stand. It's weird, they manufacture abba stands literally about 50ft from my door.

The brakes seem fine on mine too, especially coming from the bandit.

I know i am on about a different bike but with the same theme.
my TLR looks alot sweeter with the large (understatement) hump on then the seat.
i rekon both headlights should be on, the highbeam element may have blown. new bulb should fix it

What law's that? My bike, SV, has twin headlights, and both of them come on high/low beam at the same time. Pretty sure the 07 model does it too.

What is a reasonable price for an 98 or 99' SRAD 600 in mint or near mint condition with say 16,000 miles or under?

I seen them advertisedfor over £2200 in some cases, but I been told they are only worth £1,800 in pristine cond, is this true? Rolling Eyes

Tristan - £1800 sounds about right to me although I certainly wouldn't pay that for one. One you get to the K models, the prices soar.

Something to do with dozy car drivers mistaking a bike for a car. That's why the CBR600RR and Triumph speed triples don't come on together from the factory, may only have been voluntary though...
