Hi i was just wondering if there are any potential problems with upgrading headlights with these? its not going to kill my battery/electrics is it? im pretty sure i read somewhere some 'vehicles' need modifications but everything is the same, same wattage and size etc, just brighter.

i was just after some lightbulbs and had a choice between standard halogen and the xenon ones. Didnt know what all the difference was between all the different ones you can get. Why are they rubbish? ive just bought a pair not fitted them yet... ____________________ I kills hondas

PIA are the brightest bulbs but $$$$.
Standard fit no mods.
HID $$$$$$$$ in comparison plus hassle of fitting.
https://www.piaa.co.uk/
I have used same bulbs for 3 yrs.
Was that a SPAM? ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

wattage is often confused with light output. With regular tungsten filament bulbs, as used in most headlights, wattage is a good like-for-like comparison. With tungsten filament bulbs, around 60% of the energy is output as heat, and not light.
However as pointed out earlier, HID lights, which use an electic arc, output more light and less heat but also consume less power, running at around 35watts.
The measurement of light output is in Lumens, and in terms of distance lit compared to the lumens of a light source it follows the inverse square law.
In simple terms, to double the distance you can see you need to quadruple the lumens being output by the source.
Anyone that claims a SIGNIFICANT increase in visible distance by fitting a different kind of incandescent (tungsten filament) bulb of the same power consumption is either wrong, or has somehow managed to break the laws of physics.
it IS possible with some incandescent lights, that by changing the colour, and making the beam more white it increases the effective luminosity, but even then, it's going to be a small increase in luminosity giving an even smaller increase in visibility.

i tried the real xenons.... HERE
they were fairly easy to fit with the ballasts stuffed in the nosecone area. light was very good but the buzzing they make annoyed me. i got a cheapo car kit off ebay for £50 ish as i dint know if it would work or not.
i wont be fitting them to my new bike.
oh and they passed the MOT without comment aswell. ____________________ Current : '08 Yamaha FZ1s

its not very expensive. as i said £50 form ebay. its also a ballast igniter to ignite the bulbs then they run on less power. ____________________ Current : '08 Yamaha FZ1s
