Brake cleaner. Do not confuse with brake fluid.

Buy a spray can or buy liquid in bulk and put into one of those plastic sprays used for plants.

Can be used to clean virtally anything.

I recently used a tea towel dampened with petrol to get some residue off my fairings after removing some decals etc. Works a treat...

You might also try using a hair dryer to soften the adhesive first Wink

If its not stuck and it should be, use duct tape. If it's stuck and it shouldn't be, use WD40.

They are equal and opposite, one cancels the other out.

Tape and cable ties are the hallmark of any quality repair.

On topic, i have found this to be good for removing glue etc:

I have used degreaser to get this kind of stuff off, seems to work for me, not quite as flammable/ potentialy dangerous as petrol.

Stale morning urine and custard powder. Rub it in deeply with a used Tampax in a circular movement.

Clockwise or anti-clockwise? Confused

On a serious note - another vote for WD40

Next time you get that annoying Betterware or Cleaneze catalogue through your door, order a bottle of 'Sicky stuff remover'.

I hope that the replies suggesting celulose thinners and nail varnish remover were in jest. They stand a good chance of removing the paint, crinkling the decals and degrading the plastic of the fairing.

White Spirit is gentler or you could splash on a bit of your Brut or Hai Karate.

I've always used petrol, just dip a (clean)raggy cloth generously into a cup full(of petrol), and apply it with a little pressure, (no point faffing about) have a clean tissue or two to wipe away excess crap, then it should be sorted. Thumbs Up

I use aftershave! Seems excessive, but i thought anything that includes alcohol would be just as effective because it just evaporates afterwards unlike WD40 which leaves a sheen!

Furniture polish will also remove sticker residue. it's true it does work. plus it will put a nice shine on your bike at the same time.

the trick is to spray some on and leave it for about 5mins. then gently remove it with a lint free cloth.

all the best,
flat eric.

hey rich green, what's this about you cleaning the house?
now that i've got to see!
