Basically whats available to me on the Market at the price range of £1000- £1500.

After a first big bike, doesnt need to be cosmetically brilliant, but would need to be Mechanically suitable.

Ones ive seen are- If you type in BL2 4LW and 60 miles.

First page 2nd one down Honda CB 400, 34 KM 1992 J reg. £1499

3rd one down on first page a Yamaha FZR 600, J reg again with 21k miles for £1295

First page 3rd down again a Yamaha Thundercat N reg £1295 again.

Any good any of these?

Curvy SV Thumbs Up

Try looking at Cat C or D salvage, you might be able to get a post jellymould CBR600, which would be a very good option. Try RS motorcycles in Halifax Thumbs Up

Grand to a grand-five hundred and you are laughing.

My local inmdependant bike garage has a CBR600 in that looks spotless for 1,200

There are stacks of very good CB500 (including the S model), GS500, and GPZ500s for that kind of money.

The world is your Oyster!

I'll be common and say SV650 or CBR600RR for user-friendlyness as a first big boys toy.

If that's what you're after, you're welcome to my in-need-of-some-TLC '99 Fazer 600 for £900 or so. It's down in London though, sounds like you're way up north.

Buy my GS500 for 500 quid and don't bother with a loan.

'98, about 19k miles. Looks alright, would be better if it had a normal headlight imo and no fairings.

What about using Paypal with your card as funding? I don't know what the limit is but it's a thought..

My mate just sold a '99 Bandit 600 for £1250.

There's a shit load on eBay.

Bandits are good starter bikes, I had one and so did the said friend that sold his. Really try get a low milage one though, Mine had 33k on the clock and the carbs had so much shit in the idle was aweful.

RS Motorcycles is near me, in Halifax. Actually moved towards Tormordon now Smile

Seen a fair few bandits, that im after. I cant seem to find any bargains like some people can.

Like say £900 for a mechanically sound bandit with a bit of cosmetic shagness.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is: keep looking until you find the bargain you're after. They are out there I promise you, but you need a bit of patience. I bought my car last year for 7 grand from Stockport when they are around 9-10 down here in Kent and all it cost me was a 50-quid train ride and 40-quid in diesel to fdrive it home. My 'busa I bought for £4300 3 years ago with a full titanium akro when they were selling for £5200+ (the guy had split with his wife and needed the cash). This was in MCN classifieds.

Don't jump in with both feet, and I would say don't bother with a dealer-bike for that low a value because their margins will be smaller and the price will be proportionally higher than private-sale over a more expensive machine, so is it worth it for a bit of peace-of-mind.

With your credit-card you should still be able to make a private sale by drawing cash from the hole-in-the-wall over a few days or even direct transfer into a bank account via phone.
