I got knocked off the bike today Sad heading home in rush hour traffic.
I had just left a giveway junction and was heading along an empty filter lane that led to a motorway, the road had four lanes (2 each way) and the other 3 were full of stationary traffic as i had just left a giveway junction and i had hardly got up to speed so i was only doing about 10-15mph and as it was in heavy traffic i wouldn't have been going much faster anyway. Just as i was about to pass a bus on my right i caught some guy at the corner of my eye, he was practacally jogging across the road and wasn't even f**king looking in the direction he was going, WHAT A F**KING PLANK!!!! i tried to stop but their was no time or space to avoid him and he ran straight into the side of me and over the top of my fuel tank, i did my best to hold the bike up but it was at such an angle and i was off balance that gravity finally got the better of me and i fell onto my left side and the bike crashed down onto my ankle. thank goodness i have always bought boots with a decent level of protection as i would almost certainly broke my ankle.
so their i am laying their with the bike on top of my ankle unable to move, i shouted "FOR F**K SAKE!!!" at the twat and he just stood their saying sorry, eventually another pedestrian and a bus driver came over to me and got the bike up and off me.
After a min or so standing about making sure i was ok the guy that knocked me off obviously realised that he was a tard and faked an injury!
a few more mins passed and i checked the bike out to make sure it was ridable.

Damage:
Left Fairing cracked and twisted
The Frame has blue paint on it from the faring.
A few nicks on the engine casing but nothing major

Injuries:
Left Ankle feels like its sprained and my right knee is f**king agony?? no idea why

Get the knee checked out, I took the back out of a car with mine two years ago and it was fine for a couple of days. Then it started to swell so badly that I could not walk and could only operate my rear brake with a walking stick that I cable tied on (this was the only way I could get to hospital).
The tard would not have been faking injury if that was my bike.

Very Happy wasn't Benny Hill per chance...?

Hope you get everything sorted out. How do you go about claiming against a pedestrian? (if at all...)

Hope PC plod attended. Or at least you have paid them a visit with the details and a couple of the witnesses details.

This idiot could easily have suffered a bit more than 1st thought a bit like you maybe feeling in a few days. He then turns up in hospital spills the details he got hit by a m/bike and up comes PC plod..... Accident not reported.... Nasty one.... No witnesses.... Even worse. He can then says he was crossing the road and you ran straight at him..... Who's going to look like a naughty boy then...

Hope you are felling OK. Tis a twat this sort of thing thats not you fault, but you end up paying the cost of repairs.....

Pedestrians walking along a Motorway is a common occurence and happens far more often than people realise!

One of my last operational jobs before I retired was picking up the remains of someone who had walked out of an institution for the mentally handicapped, got hit in lane 3 and was splattered for about 3 miles Rolling Eyes

We found about 70% of the body as he got hit by about 6 vehicles.

Then you get those pedestrins on the hard shoulder close to the carriageway that get sucked in by the vortex created by passing HGV's.

At the last count, I have been to about 200 fatalities of this nature, so as you say, what the F@ck? But it does happen, a lot!

Could you not claim against there house insurance or something like that...complete long shot and too late, but does anyone else know if there is cover for this sort of liability?

Am I reading this right? This wasnt a motorway but a road that lead to a motorway?

Motorways do not have give way lanes joing from the hard shoulder. But I am probably just thinking wrong - meh.

Guy was still a job knockey for running blind accross in front, this happens alot in city traffic. I get tossers run out to the middle of a road and stopping. They have not heard of bikes filtering. Always nice to draw up to a stop right at their feet while they are looking the other way to spot a gap in the traffic.

Hope it all gets sorted at nil expense to you, matey. Thumbs Up

it wasn't on a motorway or a slip road, it was filter lane which led to motorway slip road.

Happened to me years back ... brand new 1200 Bandit ... bunch of peds were crossing in front of me a few hundred yards away ... they were on the other side of the road heading for the pavement with me about to go past.

One of dumb nuggets then spotted a car coming towards them ... instead of running to the pavement which they were heading to, they feckin ran backwards, back towards my side of the road!!!

Slammed my brakes on and managed to stop before hitting him ... but he was still going and ran backwards into me ... I go over, pick my self up and then lose the rag and kick him once ... wasn't a hard kick as he got up and ran off.

My bad luck was having someone from the proculator fiscals office seeing all this and me having screaming match with peds on the pavement ... you were going to fast etc etc ... they seemed to miss the fact that the frickin nugget knocked me down, not the other way around!!

End of story ... done for breach of the peace and couple of hundred fine ... moral of the story ... if a ped does this to you then make sure you kick the absolute shit out of them and make sure they remember it!!

All the best ... Barry
