Depends if it's your insurance or thiers.
Yours could say "We'll charge you the extra £x as if we knew about it", where as thiers could say "This was a potentially determining factor in the crash, we'll have to look further into it".
Although your insurance could be deemed as "invalid" I'd be surprised if they out right said they wouldn't cover you. I doubt the assessor will care too much, it's not his money, but then again, he could be a jobsworth...
