and selling both my bike and current car to get a better car - I have my heart set on a Mazda MX-5.
I love bikes and I love riding them, but there's too many crazy fools on the road. Everytime I go out on the bike someone tries to kill me.
I may wait until I live in the south of France and then think about buying a sportsbike (you don't even really need a license there...)
I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place - I love bikes, but they're just not practical and to be honest it's costing me a lot to pay insurance, petrol, maintinence, etc on two vehicles.
What should I do! Help! |

It'll have to be the supercharged one, mind.
All joking aside, though, they are bloody good cars. |

Having had a play in an MX5, I think I'm safer on bikes that in a car like that . |

If you want a car, get one. If it means selling the bikes, so what!?!
Its your decision, not the members of this forum.
I sold up around 7 years ago and got a car as we were expecting a baby, and there was no way I could afford a bike and car at that time. Couple of years later I was in a position to get a bike again so I did. Now I'm able to afford it as a hobby rather than my main transport, which I can honest say I prefer as it gives me something to look forward to doing.
Its not the end of the world, there is nothing to say you cant buy one again in the future.
If you want a car, get one, f**k what anyone else thinks!

After a crash I sold the bike and now driving my car. Once I've sorted my life out a bit with my girlfriend and got a steady job etc I will buy another bike, It's all up to what suits you best! For me, I only really enjoy bikes for stunting, other people use them for commuting! Why not take up offroading/MX if you dont want to stay off 2 wheels entirely? ____________________ 2012 KTM EXC 250

I had this problem a few months back, having owned a bike and a car for almost 2 years i really was broke. So sell the bike and car and get a Golf GTi yeh it would be good they drive well, not too slow, you dont get wet, easier for picking up girls going on dates ect..... So i got the car... Fek off who gives a shit about practically all i know is that i love bikes and now i just ride a bike i may get a bit wet, you may get twats pulling out on you but it would not be biking if things like that did not happen! And its all worth it, but i am a tart and own a 636 and would choose the Golf over a commuter bike! But i have been riding longer then i have been driving so have pretty good awareness (spidey sense) and usually spot the twat before he pulls out on me! ____________________ Honda SFX50 > Aprilia SR125 > Aprilia RS125 > Honda RFV400 > K4 GSXR600 > KTM Duke > C1H 636 > K3 GSXR1000 > Aprilia RSV-R > Triumph Street Triple R > Ducati 899 Panigale > Aprilia Tuono 1100 > Triumph Daytona 675R > KTM SuperDuke 1290 2.0 |

Go for it, i have been driving from 17 year old up untill i was 20 (2006) and then decided to use the bike as my main form of transport, as driving the cars got boring and too expensive.
Once ive purchased a bigger bike, i will probably be looking for a cheap car for winter like a Mk3 Golf GTI or something along them lines.
However i wont be using it to pick up girls, as i think its shawllow that girls go out with lads just because they have cars.
Can still pull women easy enough being on a CBR 125 ____________________ JACK, MISS YOU LOADS YOU LEGEND. |

Yer it would be shawllow, anyway most girls i know like the idea of me driving a bike, but if you meet a girl and take her out for a meal for a 1st date, how will i pick her up and take her home not all girls like the idea of getting on a bike especially with a guy she has only met once in the middle of winter! ____________________ Honda SFX50 > Aprilia SR125 > Aprilia RS125 > Honda RFV400 > K4 GSXR600 > KTM Duke > C1H 636 > K3 GSXR1000 > Aprilia RSV-R > Triumph Street Triple R > Ducati 899 Panigale > Aprilia Tuono 1100 > Triumph Daytona 675R > KTM SuperDuke 1290 2.0

Wrong. Way. Round.
You heal faster when you are young, and a healthy insurance payout can make your decidedly dodgy future look a lot better. Next time someone pulls out on you, just hit them and collect the money. I've been on payed sick for a few weeks, been payed double back on my bike than what i payed for it, and the personal injury claim looks like it's gonna be the fat side of 2k.
Thanks to the crash I'm now solvent, and am free to own both a nuts bike and a nice little car. Something I was struggling to do before hand. All for the price of a few conversation piece scars.
Other thing to remember is that when you crash at 40mph in a bike the same thing always happens. You come off the bike. Whatever stops you is down to luck. In a car anything could happen, and you're stuck in it, along for the ride. Whether it be rolling down a hill, upside down in a ditch filled with water, in a tree etc. Particularly an MX-5.
Don't become a 35 yr old that had a 125 when he was young and thinks he can hop on a Gixxer thou straight off the back of the DAS, get killed and leave a family behind. ____________________ Bikes: too many, too much for one man to maintain anyway.
