It may be in the pipe-line but most probably advised from her instructor - and just changed it abit - to it being a new law!

Or maybe he said it should be the law!

Thumbs Up

I think that would be a great idea but it would be just another thing to get pulled for (loud can, small plate, stupid riding etc)

I never ride in T-shirt now but its a nice experience to try i think (use to when i was younger)

I just phoned the government up and the new law will say yellow helmets and orange clothes in spongy textile and no riding in the dark or wet without an umbrella

think the law your referring to is darwins law in which people stupid enough to ride in t shirts and shorts tend to fall off and die . this takes them out of the gene pool until eventually only people who realise how stupid it is are left and the problem no longer exists!
save your skin, wear a cows!

And the law means nothing at all if there is noone there to enforce it. Very Happy

Did you know that if you ride at over 100mph with no helmet on you get off the bike with a perfect 1960's 'biker' style quiff? This must be where the trend originated.

The last time I got a new helmet there wasn't any white ones on sale.

I think that light colours are less visible than stronger ones, but I suppose it all depends on where you're riding Confused

Hi

Not heard anything recently about any such proposed law. And can't say I would agree with anything like that.

There have been proposals in the past about forcing people to use approved protective gear, etc.

All the best

Keith

How can anyone possibly think it's a good idea? People should be free to do as they please, what gear you wear affects nobody else, so why should it be anyone else's choice as to what I wear?

Worrying views.

If u are treated by NHS and falling off wearing a t-shirt with no jacket causes you to need 5 pints of blood, a skin graft and 200 man hours for nurses and doctors.

U just cost someone other than yourself. Smile

If u werent there someone else could have been, who needed that op or whatever

Same applies for numerous other personal choices which could result in hospital treatment. Such as riding a bike in the first place. Or having a baby. Or mountain climbing.

All the best

Dead right. Same goes for being hit by a bus as a pedestrian. I mean just what were the government thinking allowing people to wander about where they like without approved protection?

I sit on a number of Government bike committees, and I can assure you that making the wearing of protective clothing compulsory other than a protective helmet has never been on the agenda.

The Highway Code does adivse wearing a white helmet, but that is likely to change at the next re-write as it has been proven on numerous occasions that although lightly coloured, white is not always the best choice of colour.

I would imagine that your instructor was simply attempting to put the frightners on you to make you thing seriously about wearing the proper kit before you ride!

Agreed.
It is like wearing a condom whilst screwing a £15 crack-whore. It is not a legal requirement but it does make a bit of sense.

Alternatively, your choice to wear no protective gear (including a helmet) meant you were instantly killed outright. Net cost to the NHS = zero. By wearing all the gear you got away with severe skin damage and a broken neck meaning the taxpayer has to provide healthcare for you for the rest of your life.

Not to mention the shortage of organs for transplant.
