I'm quote honestly shocked at how expensive car insurance is now.

I'm 21 years old 0 NCB to use on the car and I want to insure a new 1.4TDI Seat Ibiza fully comp.

The best quote i've had is £960 from directline and the second best quote has been £1050, and i've tried 15 different places.

I really didn't think i would be that much of a risk to an insurer. When I passed my test I drove as a named driver on a car for 2 years. Then sold the car and bought a bike which I now have 2 years no claims on, and since I passed my test i've been driving a transit van through work which will be 4 years of claim free motoring now.

How can they get away with it?

Try Tesco, purely because according to Bendy they allow you to use bike NCB on a car policy. But at 21 you're still a risk.

i've bee trying to get decent prices TPO/TPFT on a 2002 Ibiza 1.2, I'm getting a minimum of about £800.

Only problem is I still have the bike though so can't use the NCB on two policies Sad

Tesco Value insurance with a £750 accident damage excess comes in at £945..

Remove the NCB's from the bike and use them for tha car.

You'll pay an admin fee on the bike policy and it'll increase by a small amount, but that will be much less than the reduction of the car policy.

Using my bike NCB's pushed it up from ~£90 to ~£180 and dropped the car from ~£1K to ~£300.

One year on and the bike is back down to £100 and the car is £250.

Only other issue is that Tesco only want to do it for over 25s, though I don't know if there are any other companies that will. EBike/ECar might do, since they're big bike insurers.

That's one of the few reasons I love being 'slightly more mature' now. A group 20 car 18 months old for £300 fully comp protected!! \o/

I found it was cheaper for me (aged 21) to insure a 1.9TDI Seat Ibiza than it was to insure a 1.6 (petrol) Corsa.....Go figure!

Apparently it's because 21 year old's "Don't do diesel's" Laughing

A 1.9 diesel is generally equated to a 1.4, so that would make sense. Thumbs Up

I'm paying £1000 TPFT on a X reg 1.25 16v Fiesta Ghia.

18 yo 0NCB.

It sucks. However I heard that with bike no claims you can only get a maximum of a 33% discount when you cross no claims bonuses, yet if I get one year NCB, you can save upto 50%.

Arrow 29 year old Male
Arrow Clean license
Arrow 2004 Honda Civic Type R
Arrow 6 Years NCB (until fault claim last year)
Arrow £85 a month with privilege

Before the accident it was only £43 a month Mad Rolling Eyes

Insurance sucks big time, but its something that affects everyone for the worse and never the better.

That's shoking. I use Budget car insururance. 220 pounds FC - 6 years no claims - 1.4 car

I have and never will pay over 600 pounds for FC car or bike insurance.

Thankful for being female on this one.
