Can anybody recommend any decent proper headphones.

At the moment, I've got one of those one-ear-and-mike things, which I have now realised is simply not adequate for doing these audio editing calls I have started getting.

I really need a set of those, like, big padded things - to block out the noise of the ongoing household noise (which is usually quite considerable - life with Andy is a decibel-intense arrangement) so that I can concentrate on what's being said on the audio.

Bit of a dumb thing to do, pick up a job that requires intense listening skills, when you live in a household like this, but this is where my computer is, and this is where I have to do the work right now Rolling Eyes

I've looked in the Argos catalogue, and they range from about a tenner up to nearly a hundred quid. They don't really need to be cordless, as when I need to listen really carefully I am attached to the computer anyway, although I rather like the look of these.

... and I don't mind what price they are, as its claimable back from the tax man, but I just wondered if anybody had any particular recommendations for ones which block out most background noise.

I'd recommend a pair of Sennheiser headphones. Excellent quality and pretty durable too. Anything from this "high-end" range would be fantastic:

The HD595 are less than £100 on amazon - and I'm sure you could get them chaper by spending 5 mins searching...

Hope this helps,
Ben

Another one for Sennheiser. Any one of those in th link above would be ideal for you as they're noise canceling. I recommend a pair of the PXC series though; I had a pair for about 8 years, and despite being seriously ragged, mine still work just fine.

Well, i DJ.

I use either Sony 500's or Sony 700's. Awesome sound from both, 700's are larger, more coverage on your ear and better sound.

They are priced £50 and £70 respectively.
