Oh great another nuisance tool to add to the already bleak view from the public on bikers.

I think making drivers aware of your presence is more important than the image of bikers TBH.

Tell me it how it goes, my horn is playing up at the moment so be good to hear how it goes. Pics also!!

I agree with Andy C, I would rather have an "illegal" horn, that makes people look, and then see you, rather than the factory fitted baby burp sound, that the deaf old sunday driver couldnt hear.

People would complain, if you road around blasting your horn, but I doubt anyone would say anything if it was used to warn other road users of your present.

everyone should use feature 5

136dBa is stupidly loud Shocked . Isn't it something like every 7dBa the loudness doubles? Most tracks only have a 103dBa limit for race cans for example... so this is seriously loud! Let me know what its like, I'm interested Very Happy .

Every 3dBa the linear "loudness" doubles. dB is a logarithmic scale.

Had the Magnum, wasn't loud enough IMO so its now on the other halfs car. I upgraded to the MUCH louder Stebel Nautilus, since fitting it nobody has ignored it if they pull out or look like they are about to do something stupid. Thumbs Up

As soon as you press it, it'll be too fugging late if the dozy twit is already halfway across your path. Pointless and anti-social mod, likely to be abused by young riders.

If it's the same as the Nautilus that quoted 136dB will only be possible on a 24V supply.

I have a Nautilus here on my shelf. It's bloody loud!

I've got a Magnum on my Bandit and it is bloody loud. It certainly gives people a shock when you hit the button, no-one thinks that a bike horn can be that loud.

I put it in place of one of 2 standard horns, its fits fine but doesn't look that pretty.

Why such the bleak view? as long as you are responsible then that would be suffice you cannot ride and live for other bikes as I say to my wife wave or thumbs up if a lorry driver lets you in or moves over as well a car drivers so maybe the next time they will do the same for another biker same goes with the horn I will only use it if a car lands in my lane or I see a driver coming through me intestines Evil or Very Mad like the other week on the M6 (driving so close) I myself hardly use the horn but I want it to count.Put it this way would you prefer a bell from a bicycle or a car horn sound on the bike ? the reason why people up grade as the OE one is silly in tone as I found out on the M6 again! I went to the stebel web site and they have sounds or their horns I prefered the magnum over the nautilus one. https://www.stebel.it/stebel/index.htm have a look and listen!

lets put this into prospective yes! while the figure is 136db is loud and you would not want to press the horn while servicing the bike or in the garage as the sound would be amplified greatly but on the road in which the sound would not be held within walls or buildings so at 70mph + db rating would drop but would still tell others you are there and about. But yes it is loud but not maybe as loud as you think! A bit like a concert in the nec or another arena type the sound is loud but but that same sound in to wembley or a field then the sound would not be to much than in an arena.

Sorry i don't get that.

The whole idea of a horn is to warn other road users of your presence.... Thus the louder the better. Remember many time you are fighting against a car full of great big stereo systems that you can hear behind you..... Even at speed. Or a driver who is 100% concentrating on their phone conversation.

Now if you were to abuse it like many car drivers who are simply to lazy to get out to pick up their lift, who sit there honking away... Then yep it is a pain.
But for its proper use the louder the better.

Perhaps a better option is to get the same as the emergency services use.... That should wake the sod up.... When the 2's kick in. Razz

Yea but then your statement is saying that normal horns are just as redundant? I honestly havnt used my horn since having the 'Four as never that many times to use it. But legal or not there are times i want people to hear where i am!!

I think if you dont abuse it then its fine. Though, i agree with you that if used in excess its just tarnishing the image of bikers Thumbs Up

Going on that logic there needn't be any type of horn fitted to any roadgoing vehicle.

Would it be pointless if used on a country lane, perhaps to warn the driver of a noisy tractor about to emerge onto the road? I suppose the noise could be antisocial if the cows complained.

Nice piece of stereotyping BTW Wink

Your not anticipating other drivers then, you need to look further ahead instead of a couple of foot in front of your wheel. Wink

Exactly, I use the horn a fair bit when I can see ahead someone thining about pulling out on me. Half the time they still do it though, I can only assume this is becase my crappy sounding horn cannot be heard over whatever it is they are playing on the stereo.

Some chav driver nearly had me off and although I didn't parp at him it would have been pointless with me horn as China could probbaly hear the bass of his car stereo on full whack.

Loud horn = more useful horn.
