Just reading the manchester evening news and there is a story about the shesha lounge in cheetam hill.
Apparently they believe that their customers should be exempt from the smoking ban and allowed to smoke shesha waterpipes ( filled with flavoured tobacco) as its a "cultural" thing and popular with the muslim community !!
So they are now trying to raise £20,000 to go to court to see if they can overturn the ruling.
Im sorry, but its one rule for EVERBODY isnt it. Mad

ok so i know that my answer has wandered away slightly from above post but is just one of many many many many examples of how OUR government in OUR country slaps us with one rule whilst alowing foreign people to bypass them on the ground of relious faith, its total fucking bullshit..

Don't you just hate what this country has become. The argument for multiculturalism is getting weaker by the day. Support for the government is getting weaker. The rights of the indigenous are being eroded in favour of the 'experiment'. I feel like a lab rat running round a perspex maze, with doors being opened and closed as I go.

Either emmigrate or fight it.

Another case of one for us and not for them.....
We are not allowed to bleed animals to death in a abattoir without stunning them 1st, but if you are halal trained then you can.....
Do they think the animal suffers any less coz that guy is of a certain religion.....

What really surprizing is that they have not got legal aid for the case..... Twisted Evil

In my eyes, people go to the shisha places specifically to smoke it, so, if they want to continue, I don't see the problem as it is a confined space to that building, not as if they are smoking in the street. Although, I do know of a few business who are still selling shisha despite the fact it's banned. And as you say, predominantly, it is a 'Muslim thing', so I don't see how it should bother you, I assume you try to avoid them.Or is it because you feel as though they are getting one over you. I really doubt its 'the goverment'. If there was specific places to have a cigarette, then I would be OK with that too, not where people go to do other things as well, drinking, socializing, cinema et cetera.

If its good enough for the WHITE ENGLISH then its good enough for the rest of the UK population, no matter what race, creed or colour they are......

Haha, I am so fucking sick of this 'black shit' and this 'white shit'. And as I said 'iooi', 'the Muslims' go there specifically to part take in the shisha.

yeah! and the english go to a pub specifically to drink a pint and smoke a cig but we fucking cant now can we, so heres a direct comparison.

We have a hut at work that was a designated "smoking room" to be used only by smokers for smoking, we used to go there on our break specifically to smoke. but now the law says that the hut is illegal and we cant use it anymore.

"'the Muslims' go there specifically to part take in the shisha."

same thing, so why should they be allowed to bypass a law that we cant or have these shisha places only got 3 walls therefore making them legal?

I assume that the reason your 'hut' was taken down was because it was near to where the public have to walk to get inside the main building, or, as in the case of my previous employee, was on a car park, so it had to be taken down. Ask your line manager if you want the specifics. And I do not drink alcohol, yet I go to pubs/clubs to 'socialize' and meet up with my friends, as there is generally a good atmosphere, and I do not want someone breathing tobacco down my throat and having smelly clothes. Here's a thought, I was born in England ergo, I am an English citizen, lived here all my life, my colour and my religious beliefs are inconsequential. My mother is Irish, is she welcome or is it just those who are not white and come from Asian countries?

Well no. It's not allowing foreign people to bypass laws on the basis of faith. It's allowing for a certain level of faith expression by those of faith (whether or not they were born in England/UK/Random Other Place).

Get the company, or do it yourself to look into this a lot deeper, as i think that places like this are allowed, or at least where we work it still is. Sure they are not allowed to smoke on the way to the bus shelter as its known, but its still there....
It could be that the company is using it as a excuse to stop smokers having a break.

Evans. In your case its the law of the land and covers anyone who sets foot on it.... The fact they go there just to do this has nothing whatsoever with any reason to allow them to continue.
They can do the same as the rest of the smokers in this country have to do and smoke outside....
And NO i do not smoke either.
I'm just sick of these monority groups who feel that the law of the land does not apply to them.... If they do not like our laws they have 2 options either leave the country or abide them like the rest have to do...

It isn't just practicing Sikh's who scrape out of the helmet law. Anyone sitting in a sidecar is exempt as well. This is a disgrace, just because I don't enjoy sidecars and I prefer riding motorcycles rather than sitting next to them with frankly fuck all protection, why should I be stigmatized for it?

Anyway joking aside, to the above poster I am pretty sure that if the building or area has a roof over it, covering all the walls, it is a problem.

What determines a roof is anyones guess. I would assume though that it does have to cover the entire area beneath to constitute a roof so if you only covered half of it, perhaps you would be ok?

I only read the draft bill for this Smoking Ban. When I did read it, I specifically remember reading that people working from home and clubs that require membership were exempt. If that is the case, then why this 'Shesha Lounge' doesn't set up a membership system. If they think their customers would appreciate being able to smoke, they shouldn't have much problem.

Have you noticed that very often there's another muslim trying to have a law changed in favour of them. They often use the 'race card' to their advantage and now it's almost impossible to say NO to them for fear of being called a racist. Well we are witnessing the product of years of giving in to them, and all you 'do gooders' must surely be questioning the wisdom (or rather the lack) of your actions.

So my question is this, what are you going to do about it?

Spark up a cig. Thumbs Up Cool

On a seperate note, I'm sick of hearing the term (always capitalised, too) 'WHITE ENGLISH'.

I'm a British caucasian.

I have a cracking tan at the moment, and even in winter i'm a pinky colour. Not bloody white!

Citizen Cestrian on the case again. Power to the people, eh?

What are YOU going to do about it Cestrian other than try and get more recruits to your ineffectual BNP cult? BNP can't even get its own people to go to their RWB event this year, can they?

As for Sikhs not having to wear a helmet - well I'd rather have a helmet than a turban as I'm guessing a helmet would offer more protection, so I'm not bothered by that 'anti-WHITE BRITISH' legislation.

And for smoking, well as I understand it they haven't even began court action yet, so it's a bit early to be getting so hot under the collar, isn't it? Should the courts decide in their favour then we will be able to have a proper debate. No point in getting angry just because someone is trying it on.

Last point Cestrian...can you clarify what you mean exactly by your term 'indigenous'?

"What are YOU going to do about it Cestrian" - Cortez the killer

I'm in politics, isn't that obvious? I chose not to sit and watch the country be destroyed by this rotten government, aided by the brainwashed PC brigade.

"other than try and get more recruits to your ineffectual BNP cult? " - Cortez.

Ineffectual? If the BNP are so ineffectual, why on earth do government funded organisations like Searchlight exist? And the last time I checked, the word cult usually applies to religious groups. Being head of English at a school, I would have expected you to know that.

"BNP can't even get its own people to go to their RWB event this year, can they? " - Cortez.

The RWB was a sell out. A government imposed maximum of 2500 people attended at any one time. As people left the venue, others were queuing to get in. Another 500 people attended due to others leaving, perhaps due to work commitments. So thats 3000 visitors in total.

Do yourself a favour, if your'e going to post crap like that in an attempt to 'put me down' and retain for yourself an ounce of credibility, get some help from a guy called James.

That got changed in the bill that got passed.

I guess that as you cannot smoke in your work van/car that they could in theory say that home workers cannot smoke while working.... Now that would be fun to enforce.

Groan. You work in politics? I thought you were involved in the BNP. My bad.

I used 'cult' in a pejorative sense.

Just so you know for future reference:

Cult (n): great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, or work (as a film or book); especially : such devotion regarded as a literary or intellectual fad b : the object of such devotion c : a usually small group of people characterized by such devotion

Quote:
News reaches us that senior officers in the BNP are having to hassle the troops to attend the annual booze-fest, the BNP’s Red, White and Blue event.

After the refusal of the former landowner to allow it to go ahead on his property (thanks in part to a massive outcry on Indymedia when it became known that the RWB and the Northern Green Gathering had shared the same space, and partly due to the fact that the landowner could make more from a couple of car boot sales than he ever could from the near-bankrupt BNP) the event was moved from its former home at Clitheroe to the field owned by BNP-waster Alan Warner at Denby in Derbyshire.

Obviously none too happy about this, the BNP membership is staying away in droves, meaning that Phil Edwards, the BNP’s liar-in-chief (spokesman) is going to have to exaggerate somewhat when reporting on the attendance figures.

The figure of ten thousand has already been suggested and appears to be the baseline upon which the success or failure of the August 4th/5th event will be judged. This seems far from likely - many BNP members despise the whole RWB thing as appealing to the very worst elements in the party, particularly after former BNP councillor and well-known football hooligan Luke Smith glassed a member of Nick Griffin’s security team in the face a couple of years back.

And you didn't answer the question - how exactly do you define 'indigenous' in your philosophy?

I know what indigenous means. I wondered how you applied the term. A dictionary will not tell me that.

How do you decide if someone is 'indigenous'? What are the criteria?

Are you going to avoid answering this again? I'm trying to discuss this with you openly, Cestrian. It's no good flinging out insults...I'm just curious to know how you (and the BNP) decide if someone is 'indigenous' - you used this word in your first post in this thread.

As you posted in here, I assume you are up for discussing the issues you raised. I don't see how you can develop your argument further until you've clarified your interpretation of the word, that's all.

So will you define how you apply this term?

One thing is to NOT vote for your bunch of Nazis.

Sikhs wearing turbans is an ancient thing. If a white indiginous brit becomes Sikh, he or she would get the same dispensation.

The smoking thing is FUCK all to do with religion.

Please go spread your hate elsewhere, it makes me gag.

To be honest, much as I disagree with the law as it stands, it should be applied without prejudice. The last time I checked it wasnt a religious obligation for muslims to smoke flavoured tobacco.

Totally agree Froggeh.

As a smoker who hates having to stand in the world of social pariahs whenever we go to the pub or to a cafe, I want to know that every other smoker is suffering the same inconvenience. I NEED a smoke between the shami kebab and the Dhansak so if I am going without then so is everybody else.

It has got nothing to do with race. Bikers often claim that they should be exempt from parking charges or congestion charges etc with good grounds to do so, but most of the non-bikers (i.e. the majority of British citizens, indigenous or otherwise) would think we were taking the piss and want us to pay the same parking fees as car drivers have to.

The minority is pleading a special case to avoid a law which the majority supports. Cestrian's problem is that the minority in this case are not bikers, but people with different coloured skin.

But what I find really laughable is that people can willingly subscribe to a misguided concept of national identity, which exists only in the collective consciousness of the people who live within a non-existant boundary created by the State for the sole purpose of control and containment. You NEED a passport to get out. Why is that, exactly? What? I need permission to cross a non-existent line?

Englishness? No such thing.

To be fair, and not really wanting to talk about someone else, I'm not sure it's skin colour our friend cestrian is interested in. Even if that is the agenda of a vast majority of the BNP.
I'll not say what I think, because as I said, I would rather not talk about someone else, not directly to themselves.

I agree, and disagree. I regard myself as very English. And I am proud of that. What I hate is the misrepresentation of that by people who for some reason get to call themselves the BRITISH national party. As if they represent BRITISH people. I am British, and they certainly do not represent me.
But again, I am proud of my national identity. And even more so now I have emigrated...which may sound weird. But even though I am learning Swedish, and will integrate just fine, I will definitely be acting ENGLISH.
Just the same as immigrants to the UK...
I believe they should learn english, and attempt to fit in. But there is nowt wrong with difference.

As for boundaries/passports... I think it would be an uncontrollable anarchy without them...At least until the world playing field is levelled...
