 |
|
Well that's the only way I can describe it really.
It's been happening for a while now, not all the time just every now and then.
Usually happens when I'm in highish revs and about to or have just changed up a gear.
The bike kind of lurches forward a bit and makes a gdnnngg sound, like, as I said in the title, it's having a good old sneeze.
It just passed it's MOT in a reputable garage so it can't be life threatening, I hope.
Though it is getting rather annoying and it's been bugging me lately.
Oh and yes chain is at correct tension, lubed and engine oil is at the right level too.
If anyone can give me some help I'd be well grateful . |

that wouldnt be the engine being hauled back down to much lower revs by the clutch? especially at gigher revs the energy from the fast spinning engine has to go somewhere, so you get alurch, this could also be the gnnnrrrn noise? ____________________ killa wrote: Im an ass man myself |

I have no idea.
It's not the grears grinding either, cause I used to do that when I first started out and remember what that sounded like .
But if it was the clutch thing wouldn't it happen all the time? |

Could be that the fuel pipe/filter is a bit blocked, and it cant get fuel in fast enough when you're revving it up...
When you say it lurches forward, do you mean that it goes a bit faster than it normally would while its making the noise, or that it slows down when its making the noise?
Any other symptoms, problems with it atm? How long has it been doing it for?

Didn't think my bike could backfire .
My dad did say there were a few tight spots on the chain when he adjusted it.
Rode the bike for a about 80 miles today and it didn't happen once, I also used proper chain lube for the first time this morning too.
Before I was just using regular oil.
Could this have any effect? |

check your choke is disengaging properly as well, not sure how you will check it is mind.
If it isnt disengaging properly, once it is warm enough it stutters and lurches at high revs. or mine does.
Thought i had broke it first day i had it. Reading the manual is a good idea. ____________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't use the choke so it can't be that.
The chain is less than a year old so no need to change it, hasn't even reached the half way mark for adjustments.
Has anyone had the sneezing problem before and did you find out what caused it?
I've ruled out the things I know not to be causing it but I'm still at a loss.
I've actually thought of something a few minutes ago.
You know on a push bike when you change gear and it sometimes clunks as the chain changes for the gear, do motorcycles work in the same way?
Maybe this is the reason, the chain just sometimes changes to the different gear not as smoothly as it should .
(I have no idea how a chain works while changing gear on a motorcycle ) |

Insurance is cheap!
My insurance was £400 on the CG .
There again it depends on age etc.
You wouldn't happen to know the average price range on the FZR would you? |

they dont make them anymore, they where replaced with the yzf's. they are common or not depending on model, the one i have the 3EN1 is quite rare now. where as the 3tj's are really common. the uncommon ones like mine are often the cheapest and parts are hard to come by. this info helping? lol. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |

be careful with one when you get it as its gremlins might not yet be showing, my shock is dead and my clutch died last week all due to old age and not enough care, my rear wheel bearings where so gone they went rusty, you have to be careful when buying an old bike as you dont know is some prick has abused it or been nice with it. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |
