This is because NCB is an insurance thing and they like to rip you off. Your car and bike license are just entitlements on your license, so any points you have count on all of your entitlements.
Welcome to the site BTW |

Your license is one thing - ie a license to use the road. The bike section of that is an entitlement, the same as a car is and a lorry is etc - Its all one license.
Your NCB is the bonus you have got while in a car, its built on the experience of driving a car. as such you have no experience you can claim for riding a bike so its not transferable mate.
You may find some places which take it into consideration though.
Hope that sort of explains it.

I've gotten three wildly different insurance quotes from brokers - all dealing with Equity Red Star (who I have my MX-5 insured with). Going to keep the policies seperate thanks to the advice on here though.
Thanks for warm welcomes btw. Looking forward to getting my bike taxed, tested and on the black stuff!

Yeah when I was getting quotes for my CBR my quotes ranged from £1300+ down to sub £400, and the different brokers where using only a handful of actual underwriters.
Where abouts you from anyway mate and how old you then? ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

Just turned 30, and living up near Leeds Hex.
Cheapest quote I got was £116 - 3rd party/fire/theft. Thats alright considering that it allows me to keep the bike outside. I haven't got a garage, so I'll have to either move or buy one of those Bikesafe insurance approved biscuit tins to keep my bike in eventually.
Still don't know how you're supposed to get off your bike once you've parked it in one ....

I had a similar problem as I don't have a garage etc - but did have a back yard and have built/building a shed thing in it.
Looed at those bike safe things etc. there is one which has a floor which pulls out and you put the bike on etc and then just push it all in (rider doesn't actually go in the box as it where).
But for what they are they are expensive. Still when you end up with a bigger sportier type bike (if thats your thing) you'll do just about anything to protect your baby.
Oh and yay, another person older than me. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

You mean you'd keep your bike in the house, you sad bugger.
Like anyone would ever do that. https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=13675
You intend to keep a 125 for a couple of years, I'll be impressed if you hold out that long mate. I kept my old 125 for a year (to get the years NCB) then did my test and bought my ickle CBR. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

Yeah but Col thats because your a lazy bugger.
Jon you will soon want more power etc. When I got my CBR I found the extra power really made riding more enjoyable - the fact I didn't have to work as hard to get to 70mph etc. (ie only had to change in to second gear to get 70mph instead of 6th ).
Guess I'm lazy as well then. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!
