This is true, but I know of lots of roads where there are signs saying there are cameras/police and not once have I ever seen one.
Also in the article they want to drop the speed limit to stop people speeding, how the hell is dropping the speed limit going to help. |

I have. I'm therefore a hardened criminal, so should be locked up for life
And I'd say by the time someone has died it's a bit late |

I just want to point out at this point that I was going to become a paramedic and when I went for selection, the Paramedics told me that they hate it when people try to move out of the way.
Apparently its their duty to get around the cars, not the cars/bikes to get out of the way. I expect that is a commonly unknown fact.
I do think that a ban and retest was extremely excessive for jumping a red light though. Three points max I'd have thought.
You sure there wasn't anything else involved....? ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

No, thats exactly what the Paramedic was saying. He might have been just expressing his personal view but her erckoned just by pulling over people cause more problems. Maybe because a lot of the time they pull over into places which are more in the way. I don't know. He said to me that if you hear an ambulance coming you should just act normally and not try to help. nine times out of ten it makes things worse apparently.
I'm just the messenger. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F

Personally I ride to the limits I know I can.
I try to make sure that I am not endangering other people's lives. I wouldn't (have) go(ne) nearly as fast in a car, but I know on a bike I will be the one that's dead or mashed up.
Personally it's not something that bothers me, probably the only major thing that would come of my death is korn not having to pay quite so much to his hosting company .
In the end though... it is /not/ speed that is the killer.
Saying that is like saying it is living that kills people.. you can't die without living and if there is no speed involved (ie two vehicles stationary) then there can not be an accident.
I do however believe that inappropriate use of high speed can cause death. |

At the time I jumped the red light 15 years ago I was on the limit with points (had about 10 or 11).
Anyway, I jumped the lights and pulled over to let the ambulance pass me, on the path was two police officers walking towards me, one took a real liking to me for some reason and gave me a producer, a few weeks later I was in court and got a two year ban, I then appealed the ban and got disqualified for two years by two Judges and told to retake my motorcycle test, in other words they revoked my full licence, that hurt I can tell you.
At the time I was a dispatch rider so not only did I lose my licence, I also lost my job, at that point I gave up riding a bike, hence the reason for having to do it all again 15 years later. |
