God! being going through the roof with our computer, just doesnt want to work and it sucks not having a decent computer to use. Using my old slow laptop atm. Just done system restore on the computer (pc world did it) got it home and now it says a file is missing and wont start at all, so ordered the master cds for it which were 37 odd quid!!! which will hopefully help me get it started. Then i gotta install everything again. looooong. Also i had norton internet security, that will now be gone, how do i get it back without paying for it all over again?
I am now looking into getting a new laptop but dont want to spend too much, but want a decent one. Any suggestions from experience? cheers.

First of all, get rid of Norton internet security. Use windows firewall, windows defender and AVG anti virus free edition.

Secondly, why on earth did you pay 37 quid for restore discs? If you've got a valid windows serial number you could quite easily downloaded a copy of windows from the internet then used your valid key to activate it.....

As for recommendations, my last 2 laptops have been Compaq, both have been rock solid. In fact i've recently got rid of my main desktop and now only use these laptops, one is five years old and the other about 6 months.....

The older one has even been dropped and it still chugs along.....

To be honest though it's hard to know what laptop top recommend without knowing what you plan on doing with it....

Hope this helps in some way? Sad

so norton is a no no then? I just dont want any viruses or shit on my computer. Erm i will use the laptop for general home use, putting music on there, making discs, pictures, videos, etc, my current one is just a bit too slow.
I paid 37 quid for restore discs because i need to restore the computer not install windows over it again, but i also didnt know you could do that Crying or Very sad Mad
