OK sick of it now.

Only got 512mb in at mo, 256mb x 2. 200pin sodimm, 333mhz(PC2700).

Right first purchased 2 x 1GB sticks. When both installed, screen wouldn't boot, CPU booted but no screen response. If i put 1 of the old 256 sticks in with 1x 1gb then screen would boot aswell but BIOS asks me to accept the new memory configuration of 256mb.

So i thought the 1gb must be too large for the motherboard or shagged.

Purchased 2x 512mb sticks by Infineon. Same results as above.

So again though just to make sure they arent shagged too, ill get some more.

Purchased 2 x 512mb Crucial sticks. Yet again same results.

I know how to install memory, get rid of static energy through a grounded object(radiator) with feet firmly on floor.

Don't know what to do, some of these sticks must work. All are brand new.

Can anyone help me ?

Thanks,

natively or after a BIOS update?

its unlikely that all the sticks are faulty so either theres something wrong with the mobo/BIOS settings or a BIOS update is needed.

whats the make and model?

You might need to update the BIOS on your laptop so that it can see the higher memory. Check to see if there is any bios updates for your mobo.

Ran a driver check program and only thing remotely hardware that needs update was:

IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

Though i don't know whether the program checks the BIOS.

How do i check what version BIOS drivers i have to compare to whats available on net ?
