Bikes can be modified for riders who've lost an arm.

He said about visiting his girlfriend.... "I thought I was only going to be 10 minutes, but I ended up staying for two hours"

Not only did the thieves take his hand away, sounds like he got his end away too.

Do I think what's funny?

That the guy lost a hand? No.

That he left it attached to his bike and it got nicked? Not really, but you have to laugh.

One of the instructors at the school I trained with had lost a hand after an accident.

His bike had been specially adapted but I have seen him out and about o the schools standard YBR's.

Dosnt have a problem rolling cigarettes either. The yobs in the story are just Gobshites, fair play to the rider for doing what he has to to continue riding.

Sorry, perhaps I should elaborate.

I meant 'How did he ride it home without the use of his prosthetic hand, when you need your left hand to operate the clutch.'

Fair play to the guy for doing it though.

I've seen an adapted right handle bar which had the clutch lever and brake lever on the same side. I can't remember how exactly it worked but there was both levers on one side.

Shorts in Japan has done that to her VTR250. She dosnt have a left so both controls are on the right bar.

Somehow she uses both at the same time, I can't figure out how.

I have a mate who has exactly that set-up on his bikes andquad after having one of his arms paralyzed in an accident many years ago.

He's a regualr sand racer and moto crosser too, bloody good too.

fair play to the guy, as for the person who stole it, what a loser, what use has he for a prosthetic hand? Must have just been stolen for 'fun' value.

There are quite a few guys who ride around Lancashire with hands missing and who ride non-adapted bikes.

I dont think its funny, but if someone had left say a sat nav on their bike, then every one would have called him a twat for leaving it there.

This is no different, he is a twat for leaving there.

My best buddy who I bother all the time for anything mechanical has only a right arm, his got a prosthetic on his left stump.

He moved the clutch to the right hand side so its just under the brake lever, I tried riding it the other week feels F*ckin wierd when ur used to clutching with your left hand.

The only thing he finds difficult is pulling wheelies as he cant pull up on the bars very effectively.

Thieves will nick anything these days. Rolling Eyes

I watched a program once where a guy had lost his left arm and leg in an accident. He had his bike specially adapted so he could still ride. He didn't even have prostectics, so I always thought he could fall off.

Not really, we would all gain for a Sat Nav. Unless it was a one armed motorcyclist that stole it (and happend to also be the correct arm) they have no use for it. Not like you can sell it on ebay either and get a lot i reckon.
