I'd get a hugger, fit some lights and get it back on the road myself.

Yea, since you broke the rear end why not look on ebay for a new ear end? I know the subframe as probably been butchered for this end to go on but worth looking into i reckon!
Also, if you get into some spare cash, why not get a nice '89 (or whatever years that model went on for) cbr600f and put the system and other nice bits onto that?
looks a lot better already now though  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

Oo i've got a suggestion.
You know those munting footrests you were on about. Get em off
And the belly pan isn't on properly i know but when you fit it properly make sure it's straight. In the side on picture it looks like it's pointing down towards the ground at quite an angle.
As for the wheels. You considered polished rims? Easy as pie to do.
I'd go for some Renthals as well. It'll have a similar feel to the Z then.
Looks pukka so far mate ____________________ wizzzard wrote: Imagine God just stopping by, tidying your front room up and then quietly letting himself out again. Statisticly more likely to happen than Korn being on here. |

Just a quick update - front and back indicators are now on as well as brake light. Numberplate mount is painted and tank has had its first decent coat of clear... does need one more though. Also got " stickers on it now. they dont stand out much though... they look almost tasteful.
Also on the wheel front ive decided to keep them red for now. Hopefully then i can go find some black rim tape from somewhere although that doesnt look likely.
My mate should be coming round on thursday to help strip and clean the carbs then were going to have a go at firing her up. Should be able to get a nice sound clip from that.

Right this is my third time of writing this out as the computer hates me.
Grant came over today to help me with the bike. As im not very mechanicly minded and the carbs needed taking off and cleaning.
We start about 10 in the morning trying to get the carbs off which did take a while to be honest. But in the end with some brute force they finally came off ready for some cleaning.
We drained out some rather luminous looking petrol and then srayed a lot of carb cleaner in and around them to get it all flushed out. We also cleaned the jets and put them back together.
Heres a nice picture of them upside down.
https://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s34/Torque05/DSC02501.jpg
We also cleaned the rubber bikes that we had to detach them from. (i dont know what theryre called) They were encrusted with crustyness?? So some WD40 and elbow grease soon removed that. and they were looking alright again.
https://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s34/Torque05/DSC02502.jpg
Then we put the carbs back on during which we realised the throttle able is begining to fray... yey more expense!
https://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s34/Torque05/DSC02505.jpg
Then came time to put the airbox and filter back on which was pretty straight forward.
https://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s34/Torque05/DSC02506.jpg
Then we ventured down to the local texaco garage and got about 3 litres of petrol - although some did manage to spray in my face.
Got back to the garage and put the tank on - linked the pipe to it etc and put some petrol in this bint. Turned the key and pressed the starter button....
Nothing
Damn batteries never last. Then we tried it again, the battery had hardly any charge but the engine was turning over so we decide its time for a bump start.
1st attempt the engine just turned over and nothing much happend. Second attempt - not too much really as i forgot to turn the ignition on . 3rd time was the same as the first so by now were both pretty tired and decide to go inside and have a bacon sarnie while putting the battery on charge.
Grant decides to use his battery in the bike to see if it would fire up with a bit more electricity flowing through it. Put it in and pressed the button. Unfortunatly it was just more noise. We soon turned our attentions to the fuel pump relay which had been by passed by my with a nice piece of pink wire.
We consulted the haynes on this matter which showed us it had all been done right and should really be working... unless the fuel pump is nakard. Which it turns out it is. The suction on it isnt too bad but the amount of air its pumping out is pitiful. So after all these hours of working i now need to find a new fuel pump for a CBR600FJ... any idea's?
O and the stickers look like this -
