Hi guys.
I have already posted a question on here & I think I may have solved it.. but now onto the next problem...
I have a DT125R 1996 model. It came with the powervalve pegged shut which ment I could not go above 6000 revs. I then unpegged it and found when it reached 6000 revs she flew. I have now gone and purchased the complete powervalve servo kit and installed it as mentioned from this site... https://www.dtr125.net/ypvsf.htm
Its a bit confusing wether the 2 servo cables should be crossed or not depending on the year. Mine was fitted uncrossed. I now have great bottom end like when it was pegged shut.. it seems to climb with no problem but I expected the power after 6000 revs to be like it was when it was pegged open but its not. It seems to climb but at a push.. should the cables be crossed I wonder? When I switch on my ignition it performs the self clean and the pully housing moves clockwise 1st and the back again. The hole lines up perfectly. I was led to believe that the servo kit would give me the power at the bottom and the top. Like I said... without the kit and its pegged shut I have bottom end right up to 6000 revs.. with it pegged open I lose the bottom end but she flys just passing 6000.. Obviously somethings wrong? Any ideas
Thanx

when you turn on the ignition like you say the powervalve should open and then shut. Basically it should whir twice. If that's all good then it isn't an electrical problem.

What revision is your CDI?

I have not checked the cdi yet... as soon as I no then I will post my findings on here. So does the cdi affect the ypvs motor bolted to the seat then? Without the kit and the valve pegged open the power was great.. I bought the kit to save on fuel due to a crap bottom end. At least with the kit I have saved on fuel and I dont have to keep slipping the clutch

As far as I am aware, yes.

It's certainly true for the TZRs; those that had the YPVS fitted had a different CDI unit.

It sounds like it's all working, but the CDI isn't sending the commands to the servo, which of course is now running as it should be.

Well I got to the CDI unit to look for the number... it was covered in grime so I wiped it and noticed the markings wiping away... all I can make out is "90-3R... even this Im not 100% about. I have removed the powervalve many times now and re-asembled it.. still it has no top end?

yamaha's servo systems are for midrange, atleast as far as i'm aware, on the fzr there is no midrange if theres no exup installed. i think there is no top end when you have the pv installed tbh.

Its a DT 2 stroke not a FZR so there wouldn't be an EXUP anyway as they are on the 4 strokes. Wink

lol i know that finglonga, i was just using that as an example even tho its a 4 against a 2 stroke, but i was saying, when fitted with an exup my bike gains shed loads of mid range for the sake of top end, it soundsl ike its doing the same to his 2 stroker. Thumbs Up

Another question I need an answer for is this... before the servo cable cover is put on.. looking at the end of the shaft its a diamond shape. This shape fits into the pully housing in 2 ways... on the diamond end I notice theres a small dot.. should this be at the bottom or the top when the pully housing is fitted? Im not even sure if the valve is in the correct possition before the housing is fitted.. it does not mention on the https://www.dtr125.net/ypvsf.htm page

check which way the servo turns, then set it to its closed position (turn ignition on and wait intill it resets itself) then attach and adjust the cables in the position needed as far as i can remember the power valve needs to turn clockwise so must the servo, if it turns unticlockwise then the cables need to be crossed.

The closed position for your power valve is with the flat section facing the piston that way as the valve is turned clockwise the exhaust port size wil increase
