PostPosted: 18:18 - 04 Sep 2007    Post subject: Derbi Senda Help PLEASE Reply with quote

Hi there... i have just recently turned 16 about 2 months ago and i bought a Derbi Senda DRD. the bike is fairly new but is a cat C write off but still useable...

just wandering what i can do to prolong its life...

i do about 100 miles daily on it which is normally flat out all the way. i need my bike for college, work (and for cruzin lmao) and i no its not going to last long the way its going...

if any of you have any ideas e.g. big bore kit and performance parts and just restrict it to around 55ish again just to keep the revs down or something..

any response is much appreciated..

cheers sam

I had a tzr 50, and I'm telling you from experience that big bore kits do not last for long. I had one that lasted me 9 days, and the next one randomly seized going 30 mph when the bike was capable of 70 mph (24mm carb, exhaust, cylinder, crankshaf with reinsorced conrod).
If you're gonna flat out don't get the big bore.
If you want some more top speed get new sprockets.

If you want to prolong its life then stay FAR FAR FAR away from big bore kits as they will shorten it dramatically!

Just derestrict the bike to the way Derbi originally designed it to be, fit a 15t front sprocket .... dont trash it esoecially from cold and run the best FULLY synthetic 2 stroke oil (API TC++ spec or above) and thats all you can do...

ahhh fair enough.... not really after top speed as it goes along quite happily at around 50mph which is alright... but its driving at 50mph flat out for 100miles daily which must be melting the engine lol..

thanks sam

EDIT

not too keen on restricting the bike.... 30mph seems a little bit scary to use on main roads whith lorries flying past me lol

He said DEstrict XD
What I meant by getting the sprockets is that with higher top speed, keeping 50 mph will be a little easier on the engine as the revs will be lower (i think)

just get a 15 tooth front sprocket a sports exhaust e.g. hebo gianelli mk

upjet the carb and run it on fully synthetic and it will be fine all 50s are thrashed and the bore still last around 5000-10000 miles

If you use good fully synthetic oil you will be fine. 2 strokes are deigned to be thrashed. I ride a Raleigh Runabout only has 1 gear and to go 30mph it's at full revs and it's fine and it's been doing it for 42 years. Don't worry and safe riding.

www.50cc.nl

you will find parts for most 2t bikes on here, id imagine there are a fair selection for the derbi senda aswel, the parts come from holland so prices are in euros but are still cheaper than most UK parts, you do have to wait for delivery and pay the import costs though

might not be much help but i thought id mention it anyway

A Derbi Senda should go at least 55mph de restricted, isn't that fast enough for a 50. Very Happy
But yeah stay away from big bore kits.
