I got pulled over by a traffic car because my number-plate was too small today (it can be read at 20.5m). He didn't give me a fine, but I have a rectification notice. So I have to put the big plate on, go to an MOT station and have the chit stamped, then post it off. Then I put the small plate back on and go another few months where most of the other cozzers act their age and don't give a flying feck.

Slimjim was also stopped just outside Bury Hill, where all bikes going in either direction were being maliciously stopped on a road-block and given pointless grief over pettiness. Slim got a £30 fine to go with his rectification notice. Ways to go pigs, there's not enough real crime going on? "Yay, let's pick on the bikers today, god forbid some percentage of the population has too much fun while not displaying barn-door sized monstrosity reg plates". Rolling Eyes

Petty spite and malice, way to police a country. Then they reap the fruit of the resentment they sow and get significantly less help from the public when they need it. And whine how everyone's down on them and have no respect for their petty asses.

Yes, I know you can't reap fruit.

I'm going to cut myself a slightly bigger plate, up to the same size as Joe's and Molotov's, who also have illegal ones but were deemed big enough to avoid censure. The country will be a better and safer place when I've done that, thanks to the sterling efforts of our boys in blue. Good work men, today you really made a difference in the fight against crime. Middle Finger Rolling Eyes

It's very important that they spend many man hours checking the bikers around the area have the correct sized yellow square on the back of their bikes. Think of the kittens.

Its such a joke. What size you going from and to? 9x7 does seem somewhat excessive esp when bikes aren't huge.

Shit luck man Sad

The oppurtunitiy cost of them pulling you for something as minor as that and making a big fuss, was being elsewhere stopping an eldely getting mugged Thumbs Down .

Get that plate sorted and it will be ok...You'll probably find IF you were to encounter a cop BIKE instead of the (shitty Focus estate I assume lol - thats what they all drive) pulls you, they're alot more leneant - being bike lovers n'all Middle Finger

The best reason I've had for being pulled is 'To advise you on safety clothing'. It was a 30 degree day and I was in full leathers, boots and gloves. I think there's not much more I can wear to protect myself. Oh yeah, why exactly did they need to run my details through the police computer to 'advise me'? Tossers.

I have the pleasure of a big monstrosity yellow square, I'm thinking of the kittens, yet they still find other things to pick me up on........ I don't understand it, I ride fine.

I'm going to make myself a 24 x 18 plate and velcro it over mine when I see them stopping bikes by me. Might be an interesting conversation.

They'd probably say it was obstructing your plate Laughing

Conversely, why both putting a smaller plate on in the first place? You know it pisses them off, you can't see it while you're riding...

Really tiny plates are massively illegal, so why even bother with a plate...

Velcro-plates ftw?

What's the difference in getting done for:

A) No plate.
B) Small/tiny plate?

when I got done for having a small plate the offence was "no rear index"

so I put the full size plate back on, then have to cut off the yellow bits on either side of the letters for it to fit on properly due to the Givi rack brackets.

meanwhile all the chav cars were screaming past well over the speed limit with their loud exhausts and stereos booming. But they are just "lads being lads" according to the copper. Rolling Eyes

Many many years ago my uncle was nicked for having a small plate. Infact he'd just bought the bike from the garage and it had the standard plate on with the shops logo at the bottom.

Copper got his magic ruler out and said it was 1mm off legal and done him for it...

Whinign about being pulled over about a slightly too small a plate when some POrshe or whatever went screaming past at 90+ on a 60? I'd be whinging like a cat on heat if that happened to me. I Was just lucky.

I saw the officer look in that direction and just shrugged it off. Alienating? I think so.

Why do you think they would alienate bikers? Is it the fact that 9 out of 10* bikers have modified their machines to the extent where it falls foul of several laws? It's easy money.

What is it anyway with 'bikers', they always play the victim card. If you don't want to be victimised then get it legal, god damnit. Otherwise, quit your bleating, it falls on deaf ears anyway. Rolling Eyes

I was once told that the offense is one of attempting to evade capture which carries a jail sentece so being given a rectification notice was very cheap
