A little sanctimonious, non? Tut Tut

If you ever crash and post about it on here I hope someone replies in the same vane, like "Riding a motorbike weren't you - expect no sympathy"

No-one on here obeys all the limits, all of the time. It's the game we play; and when we get caught we reserve the right to moan about it. Mr. Green

I disagree

If you are going to play the game then you should just put your hands up and say you'd had a good run when you get caught out.

Or has being a good sport gone completely out of fashion?

Yeah, it's called sueing people for EVERYTHING. It's McDonald's fault I'm fat, it's Starbuck's fault I burnt myself on my latté, it's the police's fault I was done for speeding etc. etc.

Face it, you took the piss you got caught. What about all the times I assume you get 50+ in 30's and got away with it?

IMO speeding in a 30, there are no excuses. 30 limits are where most kittens are found.

If you want to razz it go out to the twisties.

Yeah, think of the kittens! Crying or Very sad

On another note, as a few have said:

On a provisional, you can get up to 12 points.
If you pass tomorrow and then get over 6 points on your full license, your banned. If you get over 6 points on your provisional and then pass your test, even 1 point will ban you. I'm having my license sent back as I type with 3 shiny points on, think of your insurance bumping up and go easy on the throttle. Karma

Hey guys, i know that i have made a mistakes in my life, no need to remind me, all of you know the way of learning on mistakes, i got no excuse for speeding but going today arround town on steady 28-30 i got overtaken almost every second, when i speeded up to 35 i still had people going over 40next to me so i am not saying that i am right, i am just saying sometimes you get bad luck... I am not going to receive any more speeding tickets as i am trying my best not to anymore Laughing

By the way i didn't received summon letter yet, is there is a kind of a 14days rule to that as well? If it comes after 14 days it's invalid or something?

53 in a 30 is excessive however. I don't believe everyone around you was going that speed. 40 in a 30 is acceptable as far as I am concerned (just not in the eyes of the law) in most conditions.

If you didn't it's here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmYmMCbU3Tk

40 in a 30 IMO isn't acceptable. It's a 30 for a reason.

You are talking about a Notice of Intended Prosecution, from memory which is occassionally wrong the NIP is served when you have been caught by a camera and not pulled over.

I don't believe it applies to you as an Officer pulled you over, spoke to you and told you he was referring the matter to the Courts.

As for the overtakes and speeding, well. Ride your own ride - let others fuck up their own licences if they want to, don't get drawn in. I'd also suggest you look at your road position - some road positions - too far to the left for instance - encourage people to "slip by" you.

Around town try putting the bike in the part of the road that you would be sat if you were driving a car. It cuts down on the ammount of people trying to get past you.

Except often the reason is a couple of busy bodies live within earshot of the road and demanded a lower limit so it was quieter.

All the best

Depends on where you live.

Kids, not just Kittens, play on the roads around my place. At least Kittens have some road sense.

Hi

That might apply in town, but just because it is a 30 doesn't mean it is a town. Add to that those areas where they extend the 30 limit a long way out of the town, and the new roads that have defaulted to a 30 limit due to street lighting despite no houses at all (I know one 70 limit dual carraigeway that was a 30 limit for several years after it was built).

All the best

Keith

Keith's correct (as usual). As Ive posted on here sooooooo many times before, it's rarely as simple as "The speed limit is the safest top speed".

Round here they reduced several NSL lanes down to 50 & 40 zones, and after extending a dual carriageway/flyover the limit was reduced to 40mph even though it's a two lane straight road.

Still, you won't be the last muppet to com eon here regurgitating PC Speeding Nazi's rubbish. Thumbs Down

this is something that really pisses me off. Granted yes 30 is there for a reason and a good one at that, im all for the 30mph in residential. But this particular instant, serves him right. Well maybe not him but his parents. Its his fault for being in the middle of a road, if i was the driver i would make him pay for my car, and then some, the traumatic experience i went through and eveything. You want to stand in the middle of the road, expect to be hit, and if i hit you, expect to be sued.

Half-lyfe... sometimes kids just do things like that though. You can't blame them for it. We've all done stupid things when we were younger.

granted which is why i blame their parents, and its their money i'll be after. Im not saying yes i would love to run over small children, i would be traumatized if i ever did, but that doesnt change the fact that someone should have taught them to cross a street properly.
And ignorance is not an excuse, neither is they are young and stupid, a 6 year old is taught that fire is extremely dangerous and shap objects are, etc. and if someone let their child play with knifes, and they injured themselves, then child services would have a few questions. The same rules should be applied here. Penny Coin Penny Coin

I'm not regurgitating anything.

So you think that 40 outside a school at closing time is acceptable?

I agree that it isn't a maximum be all and end all limit, but saying that most of the time 40 is ok is just plain silly.

Was the original poster doing 40 outside a school at closing time? For all we know his speeding could be on a rural dual carraigeway which would normally have a 70 limit and be safe for a far highr speed.

All the best

The odds are not in favour of it being a rural district...

Hi

Can think of in town bits near where I live that are dual carraigeway with no turnings with 40 limits. Just because it has a speed limit doesn't mean there are a stream of kittens crossing the road to a school every hundred yards.

All the best

Ringroad by any chance?

For the record I support choosing an appropriate speed for the hazards (which is why I do 20mph past schools and sligthly exceed the limits on the ring road at 4 in the morning)

However, I believe that Traffic Police and Traffic Cameras are a road hazard and should be treated accordingly.

Entirely possible that is what he was doing. Just failed to notice an unmarked car.

Um, thats completely different. However, if thats the sort of opinions you hold, then if I do ever crash and post about it on here, your sympathy will hold as little weight to me as that opinion! Very Happy

Its 53 in a 30, 30 limit being where most people be. People are mostly stupid, stupid people do stupid things - for example, walk into the road without looking, especially children. And no they don't deserve it for being stupid.

If I do 100 in the middle of nowhere and kill myself, then thats my fault for riding like a pratt - If I do 60 in a 30, and cant brake in time for the silly kid who has ran across the road without looking, well, I dont know about you but I'd rather not live with that one.

P.S. If it was at 4am, then bad luck mate. I'm not against speeding, I speed everyday, just not where the stupid people are. Laughing
