Backfiring Flames

Hiya,
I have a problem, well not so much a problem i think it looks quite cool but as the title says when i backfire my bike (the normal kill button trick) dunno why i do i just do lol, i get flams shoot out the exhaust, i was wondering if this is normal or is it just me?

on this not, can a spark plug spark straight off a 12v battery and if it were drilled into the exhaust would doing this backfire business damage the engine in any way

correct me if i'm being naive and simplistic here but if you can ignite your exhaust gases in the exhaust you're probably running waaaaay too rich or riding around with the engine choked off.

by the time they reach the back of the exhuast you hopefully have mainly CO2, and any unburnt fuel aint gonna ignite in there.

Unless you're running a two stroke with a large hole in the exhaust to draw in oxygen, which probably won't work too well either.

and no, you can't spark a plug off a 12V battery the HT leads provide about 120,000 V (or something, it's high!) from the secondary coil.

Isn't it just CO from the engine, doesn't the catalytic converter, well, convert it into CO2?

A mate of a mate had an NC30 and he buggered the engine on his bike using the killswitch trick.

I have an NC24 and even when I get the body panels and stuff finished and the bike is on the road, I won't be doing the killswitch trick.

I took the silencer off mine and when i change down gear i hear bangs/pops.

i used to do it but it got boring, i dont do it anymore plus it stops the killswitch from working if used all the time.

My cbr has a tendency to do it everytime i change gear and also if i let off the throttle above 6k. Nice big pops.
