starter motor not working ** job done**

hi,

my starter motor on my cagiva supercity isnt working.
i have put a new starter solenoid on the bike but the starter still doesnt turn over. theres no sound when i pust the button, but when i touch the terminals with a screw driver the starter motor spings to life and turns the engine over with a blaze of sparks!

any ideas what could be the problem?
the batterys charged up and in perfect working order.

im getting fed up of having to run down the road to start it like i just stole it from someone.

Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine.

change brushes and spring , clean comutator , dig bakelite between each cupper strip , oil bearing and ends

Hit the relay and make sure the starter switch is making a circuit.

If the starter turned over when you connected it directly and you have fitted a new starter solenoid then:-

1: You haven't wired up the new solenoid correctly (press your starter button, you should hear a click from the soilenoid)

2: Your starter button is fucked ( jump 12v across the solenoid control connections from the battery and see if it works)

3: Your new solenoid is defective. (If you have a multimeter you can check this easily, if you don't, get down to Maplins as they sell them for about a fiver)
