I'm not usually one to post stories from the news, but having just read this, I'm absolutly shocked and discusted with the attitude and cowardness of the PCSO's and Police in this case......

https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7006412.stm

I hope they name the cowards involved, as I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire!!!! Mad

I (like 99.9% of people) wouldn't hesitate in acting is this situation. But to stand there and watch a young boy drown without even attempting to help!!!!!!!

They discust me! Middle Finger

Most people would go in after the lad, but in this world now they are more worried about getting in trouble for doing something so might aswell do nothing. I bet the plastic bobbies were only kids themselves and probably couldnt swim either.

I will vote for the political who makes, swimming, basic first aid and the highway code compulsory in all schools from the age of 8 yrs until they leave. Not just a token gesture but as a propper topic like English, Maths and Science.

It was a very large pond

They are PCSO's so get paid about 14k a year, and most likely if they did jump in and try to help and something went wrong, the mother of the kid would have sued them for millions anyway.

Apparently regular police have to leave police college with a lifesaving certificate. This is exactly why PCSO's should be abolished now.

PCSO's are no better at life saving than me

if the anglers or whoever reckoned they could do it, and had a go at saving one, well done to them

if i tried to save the life of someone who was drowning by jumping in and pulling them out, id probably drown too

PCSO's dont reduce the number of police, instead they free up police for important duties

generally speaking, id prefer a PCSO to be doing the beat rather than a fully trained copper who would be better used responding to incidents

id say there is more of an argument for installing life saving equipment near water, like those floaty life ring things on a rope that you can throw out to people and then pull them in

I believe they have to have them by law, and a ring aint a lot of good to kid already underwater is it col?

The bobbies should have jumped in, the last thing on my mind with a kid drowning would have been my "training" they need naming and shaming and sacking.
Its a kid for crying out loud, dying trying to save his sister, all other thought s go out the window other than getting that kid to safety.

The "article" appears to say to me that the kid was still afloat when the anglers stepped in, so presumably there were no life rings available or they weren't used effectively.
I love the way this has been spun by the media. Get a few mad quotes from understandably angry people and string then all together and stir the shit!
I guess we will as usual never get the truth so I can't really say what I would have done. If I thought there a chance i would have gone in.....but who really knows until you are faced with such a situation.

Does not mean the life ring was near where the incedent happened, at the fishing lakes near me, I have only seen one, so running round the other side of the lake to get it would have been about as much use as the bobbies standing there watching, believe it or not life rings are not designed to turn up at incedents on there own.

Regardless of quotes from the media, the fact is the kid drowned and the bobbies did not try and save him.

Yes they want naming /shaming and sacking ,to put them on a patrol would be a waste of shoe leather ,if they dont respond to a child drowning ,what use would they be in a ruckus/mugging etc?? fuck em off, bloody waste of time the lot of em ,yobs have even less respect than for regular feds.

The bobbies who arrived some undisclosed length of time after the incident. I am not defending the pretend police but I can't help thinking this is being spun for political gain.

Most posts and comments I've read/heard on this topic seem to assume that the PCSO's stood there watching the kid drown.

The child was not in sight when they arrived at the (large) lake, which puts a slightly different bent on things. Still wrong for not jumping in, perhaps, but not as criminally heartless as some people here seem to think.

HA, im not having a go at you, the whole world isnt out to 'get you' you know... look at my sig! some of ur posts are funny as fuck, and people who say you sold a stolen engine when its proven not to be 'deserve to die'.
you can still come across as a knob though...
are you saying you've never been on a bus and seen a nerdy kid getting bullied to tears, or some snotty little 10 year old pulling a girls hair in the street and thought 'this world would be a better place without that little shit'.
if your saying youve never thought that then you're a liar.

they werent bobbies, and if he was completely underwater, how would they see him ?

if he wasnt completely underwater, a life ring with rope would have done the trickt

if he was completely underwater, then there wouldnt be much chance of them finding him without frogmen suits
