cannot take seat off motorbike

I feel a bit stupid here but I cannot take the seat off my Spada vt250

I was trying to see what battery it needs (which is under the seat). I know nothing about bikes and am relitively new to all this but come on, it's a seat!!

There are no latches or anything it just looks like it 'clicks' off (I've actually managed to get the front bit praised up a bit but the back part is stuck like glue.

Any ideas folks?

no idea for that bike, try lifting the corners of the seat and see if there's 2 allen key bolts holding it down.

Sometimes have a latch built into the helmet lock. You open the helmet lock and turn the key a bit further to pop the saddle off. Sometimes there's a lever behind the helmet lock, unlock the lock then pull the lever down.

Also can be held on with two bolts at the back of the saddle, you usually need to take the side plastics off to get at them.

There's no lock (that I can see), tried it with the key in the ignition, tried the helmet lock but no other function than locking the helmet exist there

I have the two bolts at the back of the saddle but I know this seats comes off as I have seen a mechanic do it, it sort of clicks into place (next time I'll watch very closely)

Hey jas... The seat lock is part of the helmet holder. It looks like it uses the same lock as the BROS 400/650... (I've seen the 'Pup sort out the 'donkey's a few times before passing it on to Annabella!! Laughing

Turn the key clock wise (opposite way to how you'd normally undo something Laughing

) and push down the latch on the back of the lock mechanism. As far as I know, These are quite fond of seizing due to the rear wheel flicking crap up into them.

If you get really stuck go back to your friendly mechanic or any bike shop will show you for free.

Looks like it could be the same as on my CB-1, confused me when I first got it - part of the helmet lock pushes downwards, (as mentioned above). Just under where you put the key in, you'll see a lever that you push down. It could be a bit seized if not used for a while.

Yes your right, there is a latch behind the helmet lock that you push down. The seat came off real easy!

Thanks to all, esp lozzypop1 for the diagram which really helped.

Now to try and change the battery!
