Couldn't belive it really... I sort of expect it from cars and vans, but not other people on two wheels!
It was an 'old-skool' style ped (but with no 'L' plate), and the guy had a parker jaket on (MOD...MOD...), and he decided to turn right just as I was coming up to overtake!
It didn't help that the road was wet, but I just about managed to miss the guy and passed on his left side...
Shook me up a bit tho!

seen lots of people very nearly crash after overtaking or trying at junctions, myself included.
just prepare to overtake until your past the junction, and remember there are idiots on the road who dont indicate or check properly before junctions.
ride safe! | Yes, definately DON'T overtake at junctions! I had a phone call from my mate last night telling me that he's in hospital as he had a crash the night before. He went to overtake a car at a junction and the car turned right, went in to the side of it, throwing him in to the air and he landed 25ft away, bike's fuckin wrecked and he's got a fracturered neck!
Weird enough, he said he had a feeling before getting on the bike, ya know sort of a "don't get on the bike" feeling, and his bike was up for sale because it cost him a loan of 2k and he was becoming too scared of crashing it.
Insurance probably won't go down in his favour as he was travelling at excessive speed (about 50-60 on a 30 road). Obviously no one knows this but maybe witnesses, eh? He also wasn't sure if the car indicated, but to be fair obviously didn't do his checks or simply couldn't react in time. |

...I never even said the word 'junction'!
He turned off the public road onto a private road...
I never overtake at actual junctions, as I don't feel its worth the risk... |

Little story form a trip earlier this year, skip post if easily bored.
On my way back to Scarborough in Spring, I was joined on this big road by a few MOD's, they were lunatics so I slowed to about 30 and as I was behind two, I was on the left side of our lane as he was on the right, he indicated and maneuvered to his right as if going down the side street we were coming up on so I moved a few inches to the middle of the lane, he went to turn and suddenly darted back over to the left I moved back to the left of the lane and he stayed dead infront, happily cruising with his pillion so I'm on the brakes, trying to avoid him when he's ever so slowly, ever so slighly moving to my left taking my front wheel out (cutting me up) and I only just somehow managed to slow and avoid him, he was blissfully unaware of this, all his clan watching in shock and me trying to stay on bike, I stopped at the kerb shaking with relief from my scary encounter, he carried on and about 5 MOD vespa's pulled up and had a quick check that I was ok, after seeing this probably 5 minute incident that seemed like an hour long. I was fine, They went after him and went separate ways.
Although that was not my fault, it just goes to show anything can happen. I hope your mate's ok. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |
