I tried using one (ok, it had been in the garage going on 10 years...but never used!)
And it totally sucked..the valve did let oil through and no air the other way but it was a lot easier after i cut the valve off, filled the jamjar with old brake fluid and just left the end of the pipe in the jar.
Works wonders i tell ya!
Oh and the packet that mine came in said 79p on it so your getting ripped off ____________________ It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, then it's bloody hilarious!!! |

I've never bled brakes before, but before I do it would be nice to get pictures on how it's done.
Stupid, me, I need pictures to understand.
I won't just bleed the brakes for the hell of it, I need my bike every day and it ain't broke (yet).
Any detailed info around on techniques? |

https://www.lexls.com/tutorials/brake/bleeding.html to bleeding brakes.
Just found it quickly and there are pictures. Although for a car the principles are the same...
Tools
Brake fluid (check the service manual to find out which type is correct)
Ring spanner to fit bleed nipples
Piece of tubing that fits tightly over the nipple (better if it is clear)
Jar or some sort of container to drain fluid into
Guide
1. 1/4 fill the jar with clean fluid, this prevents air being sucked back up the pipe whilst bleeding.
2. Find the brake fluid reservoir and brake nipples on front and rear wheels.
3. Start with the system furthest away from the reservoir.
Place the spanner and pipe onto the nipple and place the other end of the pipe into the jar, ensure it is fully submerged in the clean fluid.
4. Get another person to pump the brake of the system you are bleeding 4-5 times then hold the brake on until you tell them to release.
5. Now you undo the nipple approx 1 full turn untill fluid stops coming out.
6. Tighten the nipple up and once it is tight your friend can release the brake.
7. Check the fluid level of the reservoir and replenish if required.
8. If you are purely bleeding the brakes repeat stages 4-7 untill you stop getting air through the pipe. Once this is accomplished I would recommend repeating the stages 2 further times to ensure no air is still left in the system.
9. Once you are happy there is no air in that system you need to do stages 4-8 on the other system.
If you are renewing the fluid, which needs doing every 2 years and it does make a massive distance, instead of stopping when you no longer see air in the pipe you must carry on untill the fluid coming through is fresh and clean. You will notice the difference.
When you do this you need to make sure of a few things:
Make sure that you never have less then a half filled reservoir at any time, keep topping up.
Make sure no fluid gets onto the brake disc or pads, as it will have a drastic effect on your braking ability.
Make sure no brake fluid EVER gets onto any paint as it will dissolve it.
I would provide pictures, but cant be arsed.
If you have any queries I would recommend getting a haynes manual for your 'vehicle'. But if you want quick answers just post them and I will try to give you an easy to understand answer.
Hope you understand this.

Dont buy it, 1 way valve thingy dont work.
Just the old fashion way, bit of tube, jar with clean fluid in, any problems, just suck it up.
All takes time anyhow!!!!

Found that 1 specifically for motorbikes. Looks ok and has pictures but pretty much says what I said, but with bad spelling.
Another point I should of made is this:
Once you have bled brakes always test them before you go for a ride. Ride slowly and apply the brakes to check them, then build your speed up and try an emergency stop. This way you know the brakes are working well. Otherwise you may end up not knowing they are crap until you go through some wall.

Those tools are utter crap in my opinion. Bought one identical to the one you posted (first post) and it doesnt work properly.
Just went back to my jar of fluid and my trusty bit of pipe. ____________________ Check out our tackle shop on Facebook:
