I need to bleed my rear brake...

It says it's a one way tap that doesn't let neither liquid nor air back in so no doing/undoing the nipple 100 times. Will this be crap? If not I'll get one

It should work fine, as long as it isn't a piece of shit.

They make bleeding brakes easier and quicker. They aren't compulsory or even slightly necessary, but they're useful.

Nothing beats the basic piece of pipe, the valves are ok to shift fluid through in a hurry, but i would still use the old method to do a final bleed.

If you use a pipe and have a upwards bend in it so theres always a bit of fluid above the nipple, its foolproof.

I tried using one (ok, it had been in the garage going on 10 years...but never used!)

And it totally sucked..the valve did let oil through and no air the other way but it was a lot easier after i cut the valve off, filled the jamjar with old brake fluid and just left the end of the pipe in the jar.

Works wonders i tell ya!

Oh and the packet that mine came in said 79p on it so your getting ripped off Laughing

Is it actually easy to bleed brakes then? You all make it sound like a 5 minute job.
I've never done it before and I need to do the rear desperately

I won't just bleed the brakes for the hell of it, I need my bike every day and it ain't broke (yet).

In that case, i'd definately hold back until you've got a couple of days where you don't need the bike. Bleeding brakes is easy but you CAN have problems. If you don't know brakes you'll need that extra time to figure out what's wrong.

Dont buy it, 1 way valve thingy dont work.

Just the old fashion way, bit of tube, jar with clean fluid in, any problems, just suck it up.

All takes time anyhow!!!!

Found that 1 specifically for motorbikes. Looks ok and has pictures but pretty much says what I said, but with bad spelling.
Another point I should of made is this:
Once you have bled brakes always test them before you go for a ride. Ride slowly and apply the brakes to check them, then build your speed up and try an emergency stop. This way you know the brakes are working well. Otherwise you may end up not knowing they are crap until you go through some wall.
