Hi,

Im currently changing my Speed Four to bars.
The controls have a small nub which goes into a hole in the clip ons, the renthals dont have this hole.

Should I drill my renthals (which is apparently not reccomended by them) or grind off the nub? (Also been told if I do grind the nub off, but some tape arounf the bar where the controls are placed so they dont slip.)

Help please.

If it's a metal pin, you can often push them back through.

This means you are neither drilling nor grinding.

I usually remove/push through the pin and wrap some tape round the bars to stop them slipping.

Buy a Plastech repair kit and use the putty to mould around the nub

File away nub

When you need to replace Nub, use mould and Plastech to create a new one

I've always just ground it off.

As mentioned, tape around the bars if it's an issue.

You could probably get a small self tapper in there if you needed a locating pin back.

Grinding it is!
Thanks all.

Quick question, how much fluid does a front brake system usually need?
Is 500ml enough? (Just got 500ml of DOT 4)

Depends on the brake system etc.
Should be ok, but I'd have gone for the litre just in case (infact, I've got a 5lt bottle somewhere so I don't need to worry Smile ).

Buy it in the small bottles, otherwise you just end up with brake fluid sat around absorbing water.
