hi guys can you help me i've got a 99 model r6

can you tell me if there is any difference with the 99 model loom and the 01 loom

reason is that i've changed the rear end of the r6 to the model with led back lights complete looms as didn't want it cut the battery tray or wires.

the problem i've got now is that the display on the clock is flashin with the oil warning light.

i do know that the 99 model had a relay for the oil switch as looked in the manuals elec diagrams and the 01 don't

is there a difference in the oil switch for the 01 as can't think what else it could be.

has anyone else done this or can help in anyway

cheers stu

have you tried looking on https://www.r6messagenet.com ?

Those guys should be able to get you sorted, i do know that Yamaha can be bastards for moving pins and connectors around on the Loom, when i installed my Digi-Gear the pins were not any near the order they should have been in according to the tech manual for my bike...

if your oil and everything is at the right level it does sound like a connection is wrong somewhere.

out of interest how was the 'arse end' conversion with you?? you mentioned that you switched the looms around??

anyways, good luck getting it sorted Thumbs Up

thanks for the reply i have just join that r6 forum so will wait for answers soon.

as for arse end had a few little teethin problems in settin it up like the gap between the rear seat ! but all i had to do was drill the plastic hole so i could move it around and got it lined up perfect

as you know didn't fancy cuttin the tray and so changed the loom also the left side grip controls as plugs where different and had couple of extra wires on there Evil or Very Mad also had to cut and bullet connect the one earth and one other wire which was on the block and the rest just plugs straight in.

i've just been told it could be the clocks as they slightly differ between 99 and 02

can anyone vow for this Confused

thanks stu

thats a shit load of loom work, it is most likely that there is a crossed connection there somwhere,

Most people i have heard of just added the 2002 rear, chopped the undertail to keep the battery box and just spliced the new lights into the loom.. personally i hate doing sparky work

If it was me i would be tempted to let an auto spark cast an eye over it all simply because if there is a short somewhere there are a lot of things to fry and bugger up Shocked

there will be someone on R6msgnet who will get you sorted... im very sure they also have the arse end conversion guide on there was well... Thumbs Up
