Hi,

Bike has failed its MOT, on 4 things, but one of them is that the throttle does not return...now have never noticed this myself and went to check on a couple of MOT site, what the check was, but can't find the test method or fail criteria.

Can anyone tell me what the details are?

Thanks

Dave

If the throttle sticks or doesn't return to a neutral position then yes its a fail, not quite sure how to resolve it to be honest apart from some lube on the cables and check for binding, I'm kinda stumped?

Causes of this can be:

Not enough free-play
Crud under the throttle tube causing it to stick to the bar
Cable gummed-up with road film
Bad cable routing causing tight bends
Aftermarket grips rubbing on bar ends/switchgear
Damaged outer-cable (from getting caught in the lock-stops)
Frayed inner-cable

Check all of the above it's likely to be one of them or a combination of some.
