Does anyone have on of these? My Shoei XR-1000 can be a little loud and would be nice to tone it down a bit without wearing earplugs.

Any issues with them?

They do help with the wind noise alot on my Raid 2, and do keep you warmer as well when its cold. However i find it keeps me to warm during normal weather and haven't used it since last winter, and it takes a bit of getting used to as its touching your neck all the time.

Wearing ear plugs is the only way to cut out the harmful noise I'm afraid, just try plugs for a week, you'll never go back.

presumably you don't have a shoei? The XR1000 was bloody annoying - it was a low, booming sound coming from the nether regions of the helmet which even earplugs didn't stop! Eventually, i bought an arai! - Whisper strips are expensive. Isn't there a product by oxford or motrax that's made out of neoprene and stretches over the bottom of the lid which effectively creates a seal between your neck and lid? Somebody tried it here a few years back and said that it had quite a profound effect and helped to alleviate the problem - 12 quid is certainly better than forking out for a whisper kit - it's gay that shoei is supposed to be up there with Arai, but they don't even give a maintenance kit or even a basic chin flap - i had to nick mine off my old HJC!

Titz the neoprine Motrax thing on the bottom does work I have one the problem it is doesn't stay in place more than 30 minutes, with it on it is queit (with ear plug combo I mind), thus its pretty useless also your visor if not anti fog fogs up REAL quick even anti fogs steam up quick , so you need to open your visor , which defeats the point of the thing in the first place!

I got the Whisper kit, It works well but doesnt keep all of the noise out. Ear plugs with the kit more or less makes it silent.

I only paid 16.99 for mine but that was at the BMF show.

I have one, and it does reduce noise-levels somewhat as well as keeping the cold air out; however, it makes the helmet considerably more awkward to put on/take off, so I generally avoid using it for any non-long trips.

Someone bought an Arai for noise reduction?? Laughing

Earplugs and a Shoei X-Spirit are far quieter than earplugs and an Arai Quantum.

Cheers

I have like 20 sets of the ones recommended by Ride, there good but just piss me off after a while TBH, and effort to put in (i tried about 6 different ones now and each had a large drawback). I use them mainly for if i want to sleep for an early start and my flatmates are going on a heavy one.
