Can't see a pic - most likely down to Safari at work....

Not too many changes from later NC30s - upgraded forks with rebound/preload adjustment (similar internals to RVFs), changes to jets (run a bit richer), rear shock has a remote reservoir, to name but a few.

Registered date is usually different from manufactured date when it comes to import bikes...

I believe the NC30 was once officially referred to as a VFR400-R3, so it's not a particular model of NC30. More another name for the NC30 model.

Honda didn't bring out any variants of the '30. They tweaked it here and there. For example earlier bikes have same-size carb jets and crap front forks and later bikes came with a rear shock remote reservoir and carb jets differed between front and rear.

EDIT: Ballsacks. If you snooze, you lose, what what.

Partial Credit.

The model codes for NC30s range from VFR400RK - VFR400RN: mostly down to colour variations. R3 could be a paint variation of an OE scheme, or the 3rd installment of the model, just named incorrectly.

The forks on the newer models are cartridge forks, which are pretty much standard these days, especially with Honda. This means you can adjust preload and rebound whereas with the older damping rod forks, you could only adjust the preload. The earlier NC30s are pretty notorious for having poor, soft suspension.

The early carb jets were all small and were all the same size. With the newer bikes, they opened them up to something like 115 at the front and erm... 117/118 at the back, sorry I can't remember specifically. So, as Craig said, they run richer.

Oh yeah, and with the older forks, well because of their old-ness, they will be harder to play with in the future, should you want to.

Hope that helps, can't claim to know everything about these bikes but hopefully gives you a rough idea.

Ah I see, that makes much more sense.

Thanks. Thumbs Up
